Who gives a shite about the Carabao. Would anyone even be happy winning that and sacrificing the UCL and EPL?
100% have to focus on winning this weekend. Would be huge to take 3 points from Chelsea.

Matip vs Lovren - I think we’re splitting hairs with these two. Matip is better than he thinks he is, appears to lack confidence at times. Lovren is not as good as he thinks he is, always seems to be over confident in his abilities.
Bingo - I think they should be match-up specific and hopefully not play much together (because I don't think they are very good together).

Carabao (EFL) Lineup Predictions: Migs Clyne-Matip-Nat Phillips-Moreno Keita-Fabinho-Henderson-Curtis Jones Sturridge-Solanke This'll never happen, but I really want to rest our starters.
I would love something like that (but likely not Nat Philips unless Lovren isn't ready yet, but definitely would like to rest VVD and Gomez if possible.
While I don't have the Carabao cup high on my list, I think it would be good to advance and keep the second squad with some regular game time. I don't want a Moreno having to start a PL game in December not having played but once since the start of the season, etc.
But if we happen to make it far enough for he semis, I hope the B team still plays in the semis.

I don't think the scenario presented asks that question... Keeping the cup run intact, doesn't necessarily concede the league...
If the question was cup or league, I would definitely agree..

has VVD been the most significant signing over the past two years for liverpool?
i've only recently (last season & this season) made a point to watch most of liverpool's matches, but i seem to remember them having major weaknesses in the back prior to VVD arrival. they were scoring, but giving up a lot of goals too. they seem much more stable since VVD joined the team.
I think i picked city to win the league again this year in the pre-season thread, but had Liverpool finishing second. If i were to revise that prediction, at this point in the season, i would have liverpool winning the league. They are beating teams fairly easily without playing their best ball.

You go full strength tomorrow to keep that intact vs giving guys rest to go all out on Chelsea this weekend?
A win this weekend would be huge for the title race.

I said earlier in the discussion that I wouldn't risk playing the first team starting 11 in the cup.. but I do want to win it.. I dont think Chelsea will play their first 11 either..

Absolutely not, and I wasn't implying that... I expect a heavily rotated squad tomorrow

Klopp says Mignolet getting the start tomorrow...have to wait for other lineup tweaks.

Gotcha.
In the same boat, just don't want to go for broke on a "trophy", especially one that no one even remembers who won 2 years ago, I could care less other than dealing with the haters.

Just as an aside and something I just thought about, its starting to seem like Klopp's "right hand", Zeljko Buvac, wasn't as critical to Klopp's success as first thought. Its that or
(1) Pepijn Lijnders is better, or
(2) Klopp doesn't need a right hand.

Grujic tore an ankle ligament this weekend while playing for Hertha Berlin.

Hopefully their 6 week timeframe for recovery is accurate because the kid really really needs to play.
Posted on 9/25/18 at 9:24 am to beatbammer
It's probably a combination of both
Also, saw this listed as a possible starting XI tomorrow:
Migs
Clyne-Matip-Gomez-Moreno
Keita-Fabinho-Henderson
Mane-Sturridge-Shaquiri
I'd be fine with it

Whats the TV for today's match?
Posted on 9/25/18 at 10:40 am to pvilleguru
Based on Klopp's press conference, VVD is out with that rib injury (but he wasn't gonna play anyways), but it sounds like Lovren is back in full training so I wouldn't be surprised to see him tomorrow

WHAT A HIT SON, WHAT A HIT!
Hoping to see our entire defense rotatedtoday, with a MF trio of Keita-Fabinho-Henderson, and though I'd prefer to rest Mane-Firmino-Salah, I think one of them starts with Shaqiri and Solanke.
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTATE and get ready for the HUGE game this weekend.

I think Studge gets the nod over Solanke today honestly
