And I think Keita has been a beast this preseason
Obviously, way early and I probably shouldn't make this comparison, though its been done before...
I see him as a Kante type, with much more offensive ability... his dribbling and eye for a pass is WC... if he can do these things consistently, week in and out, we have a real player on our hands...
edit: I'll reword.. maybe not a Kante type.. but the ball hawking abilities.. and endless motor.. he is all over the pitch..

Karius is a lot better of a sweeper keeper and with his distribution than Migs... I think that's why Klopp liked him.. That's what always gives you a little bit of anxiety.. See Neuer/MATS, etc..
If Karius can get his head on straight, we are most definitely better off with him as back-up than Migs. Big If though, it seems right now. With Karius as the back-up, he slots right in without or having to change anything.
If we have to sell Karius, we might as well sell Migs and find another back-up keeper who can play sweeper keeper.

Hell, Alisson has some nervy moments when he's sweeping up and tends to parry shots back into the 6 yard box... I hope the supporters don't turn on him after his first mistake, because it is inevitable..
Yes, not only is it inevitable, but the toxic way things are, his mistakes will be magnified and compared to Karius. I hope he has several worldies that preserve points before that first mistake.

Is Ojo gonna go out on loan again?
The fact that "fans" in Liverpool kits were going crazy with joy over Pulisic scoring pissed me off to no end.
Yeah, I know, pre-season and all... just the damn principle of the thing.

Wut....
You're watching the game in America and Pulisic is not only a rising American star, but it is known to every pool fan as being someone Klopp wants. It's a preseason game against a team from Germany that we will only see in European competitions as well so frick I would have cheered for him to the way he was playing out there.

Lmao you need to lighten up, hell I might have cheered even in a real European game as long as it wasn’t a dagger/game winning goal

Dude Dortmund and Liverpool are like sister clubs more or less.
It was a joke of a friendly in hot as weather.
Who cares. It was great to see him doing what he did in front of a massive American crowd.

OK, y'all win The Classy Opponent Award.
So weird of me to dislike other team's players scoring against Liverpool and "fans" in Liverpool kit cheering it.
And, personally, I'd be all for Pulisic scoring 200 goals per year as long as none were against Liverpool.
But hooray and hot-damn, Pulisic scored against some Liverpool U19'ers and back-benchers, I guess. Queue The Star Spangled Banner and press a gold-medal?

Nah, I'm a patriotic mf'er (see: disabled veteran), I just put down the flag when it comes to club football, pre-season or regular season.
Now would I like Liverpool to spend big money and add Pulisic to Klopp's options? Hell yeah... but because he's a great and gifted young player, not because he's the ingenue of a USA national squad that couldn't even find the intestinal fortitude to qualify for the WC. But I'd rather spend 150M for a great and gifted young player like Mbappe (get to work, Fabinho) whose ceiling I think is unlimited than 70M for a great and gifted Pulisic who has a clear ceiling IMO.

This is logical.
How did you rate Salah before last season? What was his "ceiling"?

I didn’t.
And though something may be “obvious” to me, its clearly just my OPINION... which you may rate high or low at your leisure.

What’s the ceiling? 19 year old Christian Pulisic is a better player than 19 year old Eden Hazard. His “ceiling” is top 5 attacker in European football; of course he may never reach that level, but I’m not sure how anyone could argue otherwise. Dembele, Malcolm, Rashford, Jesus, Mbappe, Bailey, Pulisic...Mbappe is a cut above the rest right now in that age range, but if you were to predict the best attackers in the sport 8 years from now you would be a fool to exclude any of those guys. I’m sure I’m leaving a few off- but that’s the company Pulisic is keeping

Maybe I'm being crazy, but I think if it doesn't happen, it'll be because Liverpool are concerned over the injury and don't go for the deal... Seems like Lyon and Fekir are keen to make it work

That’s basically word for word what Pearce said in a Q&A today
quote:I know they haven’t always been the first to break the news this summer especially regarding him, but I’d say things aren’t looking great on that front
Lyon are crying out for a buyer. It suits them for Liverpool to be repeatedly linked with Fekir. For all the talk of potentially restructuring the £53million deal that collapsed last month, I can’t see Liverpool going back in for him. Their concerns over his knee were too great. It’s a shame because he would have been an exciting addition.

My issue is - if we felt the need for an attacker like Fekir...and we now aren't going to get him as our choice....do we not still have the need for an attacker like Fekir? Someone who can play the CAM role, but also slide in as a wing back-up if necessary?

How about Pulisic? I hear his upside is limitless.
(j/k... but buy Pulisic, Klopp? Please? Not j/k on that.)

Need has not been a requirement for Klopp to sign someone. He is willing to wait for the player he wants or someone of similar quality to become available. See VvD, Baby Keith, among others.
There is a thought Fekir transaction will progress in August when it is time for him to report to Lyon. He still wants Liverpool, Liverpool still wants him but with safeguards around the fee. Supposedly Fekir restructured his personal terms to be incentive based, but Lyon weren’t willing to restructure the fee. It why as mentioned above, they are begging for other buyers.
