Yeah, that wouldn't have been bad, that being said, Phil is going to play for us (and play well) this season and he can go where ever he wants next summer

Lemar didn't rule out a transfer in his post-match interview for France... Is it over yet?

Well, if Southampton won't even negotiate with us, then I don't know what else we can do. To be fair we've done the same with Coutinho, so fair play to them. I still think we'll get our man, but it just might not be until next summer. And I think there is something to be said for waiting for your guy instead of settling for plan B. We've had our share of failed plan B's over the years. Adam, Downing, Aspas, Ilori, Alberto, Balotelli. I'm just happy there are players now who want to come and play for Liverpool.

Barcelona actually made bids.

So? It's not like we just flat out didn't even try to get him. The relationship between Liverpool and Southampton is so damaged now that it would not have mattered had we made a new bid every day exceeding £75m.

Now we just need to wait it out.

You still put in a big bid and make them turn it down. It's easy to turn down a bid that isn't there.

You can't convince me that you did all you could to sign him if you never put in a bid.

We did not address our only dire need. We're competing on 4 fronts with Ragnar Klavan our top choice off the bench at CB. Emre Can is 5th in line. I really don't understand it. It's just waving the white flag. When the dust settle we didn't even submit a bid for a center back. Mind boggling.

In all honesty and with all due respect, do you not think that Jurgen Klopp understands what he is doing and insists on doing it his way?

Would you rather have Jurgen Klopp? Or a puppet coach that sways with public opinion?

Would you rather have another coach who just really understands JUST LIKE YOU DO the importance of center-backs, since you fully believe that Jurgen Klopp doesn't?

You need to understand how the "tapping" allegations played a role in the no bid.

So we really only missed out on one transfer, VVD. Although that was our biggest need. Not sure how much we were really in the Lemar signing. Plus we kept Coutinho....for now. We will see if he is still with us this time tomorrow.

Anyone know the timetable on when Clyne will be back?

On days we need to rest TAA, would we be better off running a back 3?

Man Pville, I have mad respect for you most of the time, but you're so off base here...

When SOTON hit us for "tapping up" it changed everything... If we'd publicly apologized, and "ended our interest" and then in the SAME WINDOW approached with a bid to buy (yes even after his transfer request) it would have looked so shitty to the FA that it would have been possible to be hit with a transfer ban, and I think literally every LFC would agree that that would be a massive blow

Cou's back looks fine. So no more excuses once he gets back, right?

Thinking the U23's need some help in the midfield and his conditioning appears subpar for geggenpressing

No, I wouldn't think so. We have something of a luxury at the fullback position right now. I was genuinely surprised to see Gomez start at RB against Arsenal, and he did just fine. Still would rather Clyne or TAA, but I don't think we would go 3 in the back. Left back also has some depth with Moreno and Robertson both healthy. Milner would be the emergency selection if neither can go.

With Clyne still injured and Gomez is really a CB, I was thinking we could go with a back 3. Lovren, Matip, Gomez. Ox on the right, Robertson/Moreno on the left.

I don't know. Maybe I'm still just blaming the Watford draw on Gomez.

We fricked up this window by not bringing in help for the center of our back line. It will cost us a title shot this season.

Wouldn't think so, his arse will be back in the squad I'd think
