t Ederson for £35 mil last season

Ederson was younger, less accomplished, and not fully polished - especially as a consistent shot stopper. Now, he's low risk because you can be almost certain that he'll continue to improve and likely be in the conversation for top GK in the world when he's older. He's pretty damn good right now - especially in the system City uses.

I don't think you'll see too much outrage if we buy one of the top 3-4 GK in the world for that price. But, after VVD, you can believe that expectations and pressure from fans and oppoosing fans alike will skyrocket. We're already showing this isn't Fabio Borini's Liverpool anymore. We're spending the bucks now.

The reported buyout for Oblak is £88mm, though Ive seen some suggestions that it could be in the £75mm range...

Yeah, everything I've heard is that the buyout is €100M which, right now, is approx £88M.

And, as you said, the "new" buy-out doesn't mean jack if he hasn't signed the new contract.

I'd be perfectly happy with either at this point.

You gotta gives me a break, I am still suffering PTSD from watching Karius. I was giving Cou his £142 with bonuses. If we paid £79 for Allison I was rounding down. I’m trying to make this work!!!! Seriously though Oblak is out of the stratosphere for us and honestly Allison might be too. It looks like we have inquired about Cellesin (?) from Barca. Evidently he has a release clause at £50, they are saying he is “untransferable”. The thing is he wants first team football and if we meet his clause than they are stuck. Anyone know anything about this guy besides that he is Dutch? Oblak is my unattainable dream but I would pay for Allison. And yes after City paying £35 last year how times have changed but I think we all can say that it’s a piece we desperate need if we have a chance at challenging a team like City over the course of a year.

Jasper Cillessen.. I'd take him, but he's competing with Karius for the #1..

No way I'd pay £50mm for him... If I am paying that kinda money, I want a top 5 GK in the world... before riding the bench at Barca, he proved himself in the Eredivisie.. Barca dont have to sell, so now they are just quoting the release clause..

Id be okay with those 2 competing for the #1 spot if it meant we spend bigger on other needs... but I wouldn't pay more than £25-30mm

Forget that competing shite. We need a clear upgrade at that position. Karius was pretty good but not great this year. Who knows how he comes back from something like this...especially at that position.

Well, I don't think Cillessen gives you any more than that... competition for the #1 spot... he very well may be a very good #1, but his cv is far from convincing...

Thats really my main concern with Karius, if he can put this one match behind him and kick on... for instance, that second Bale goal, may have been partly caused by the first error...

Think there's any smoke to the Donnarumma rumors? A few years ago he was being mentioned in the same breath as De Gea, now De Gea has gone on to arguably be the best keeper in the world and you don't hear as much about Donnarumma.

Agreed, if it's only a few million difference, give me Oblak

We’ll see but I get the feeling we aren’t going to pony up for either of the big two. I think it could depend on how much we plan on spending for the other players on Klopp’s radar. You never know with JK, he has a different way of looking at the transfer windows. That being said he has built a squad from a 6th place team into what we have now without almost any real net spending. If anyone deserves a spending spree from FSG it’s him.

So we have officially bid 60 for Fekir and they want 70. Most importantly the player wants his future done before the WC. This appears to be any day now. Midfield overhaul almost completed. GK, Winger and CB (?) up next. I am really liking how we are moving full speed ahead after a CL Finals loss in a WC year.

Like getting business done prior to the WC before values get overly inflated. Cannot be understated.

Landing Fabinho and Fekir in less than a week after the UCL exit would certainly help soften the blow... Can't wait for August

So right now our lineup looks something like:

Mane - Bobby - Salah

- Fekir -
Naby Oxlade
- Fabs -

Robbo - VVD - Lovren - TAA

- Karius -

With a bench of:

Hendo, Gini, Migs, Clyne, Gomez, Ings, Solanke, Milner, Klavan, and the other piece/part guys.

Someone will have to go! Sounds like loans and sales are going to be incoming.

Wish list:

- Oblak/Allison/Donnaruma
- CB
- Striker(s)
- Winger(s)

Does all that seem about right?

Bet Ings is gone... maybe Gini as well

Agreed with the rest of your list and observations

We're going to crush everyone running that 4-4-3!

But seriously, getting Fabinho done early is awesome, and I hope we can push Fekir across the line before the WC.

Assuming we buy a GK, winger and Fekir, I think our outgoing will be selling Sturridge, Origi, Lallana, Clyne and Mignolet. I can see loans for Ings, Grujic, Solanke and Harry Wilson.

Ox will be out until Nov/Dec, so I don't think we can factor him in as playing a relevant role until after the new year.

If our starters are as posted above + a new GK, that means our bench would have to be trimmed to 7 from: New winger/forward, Brewster, Hendo, Milner, Gini, Moreno, Matip, Gomez, Klavan, Karius, and then add Ox when he comes back. That's a full squad, and our starters are definitely improved. Just hope whoever we sign to spell the front 3 + Fekir provide them with adequate cover.

Well, that's 12 people. I assume they would roll with Fekir, Naby, and Fabinho.

How has Ox been for you guys this year after his transfer?

Yeah I didn't even catch the 12 guys

Ox was good until his injury, he played well as a starter, but also was good at providing a spark off the bench

It always seemed to break down for him in the final third at Arsenal. Wasn't sure if he was able to rectify that or not.
