Good, if the likes of RBL and Soton can hardline us then we better damn well have the nerve to hardline Barca on this...

Now BILD comes out with this: Ralph #Rangnick is planning without Naby #Keita ???? next summer. He admitted that it will be difficult to keep him. (Bild) #RBLeipzig
First time Rangnick has climbed down from his position. How am I supposed to get any work done. HOW?

Next summer
That report has been out for a while. He's basically saying I'd rather piss away 20 million than swallow my pride and sell

He's setting up the RB fanbase for his eventual capitulation at the end of the window. Keita will be RED this summer.

Don't do this to me, I've finally moved on

I dunno what to make of it Rubble. Before today, every single Rangnick quote has said that Keita is essential to Leipzig and he hasn't even mentioned leaving. This is the first time he's accepted planning for a season without Keita.

I think FSG has been exactly what we needed after the disaster they inherited. The game has gone to a different level in terms of money recently and I just hope that they are prepared to do what needs to be done to attract top players to the club (and keep them) to consistently be competitive at home and in Europe. I can also say that we cannot thank them enough for keeping us in Anfield and improving on one of the most iconic stadiums in the world unlike a number of our brethren in the PL.

My feelings, almost, exactly. I just want this window to go well and us to get back on the perch and I hope FSG are ready to do what is needed.

I want to like FSG I admire the way they run the Bosox and his wife is so damn hot. I think the numbers the last five years are the numbers though. The "Big Clubs" have net spent over $500m the last 5-6 years and we are at $107m.
Will they do what it takes knowing the value of the club goes up everyday just being in the EPL.

Most of those big clubs also have super rich owners who don't care about profit/loss... And the team that placed 2nd last season didn't spend a crazy amount of money.
I'm not in the camp that we need to spend a crazy amount of money to compete in the PL and Europe, we need (and have imo) a manager who can find the right buys at the right price and then get the most out of them.

yeah, and while I have been pissed about our lack of recruitment in Jan (I believe Klopp admitted that was a mistake), most of those clubs have been going after big stars in that time frame.. we were value shopping..
Finally this year, we were poised to spend and other than Salah... our two biggest targets are heavily valued by their clubs, with no intent to see them go... frustrating..

Three news items on Coutinho...
1). Barca €100M second bid rejected.
2). Klopp reiterated "there is no price at which we are prepared" to sell Phil.
3). Phil is likely sitting out the season opener due to injury.

Yeah, and still there's plenty of smoke around both of those targets ending up in red shirts by the end of the month (especially VVD)
It'd suck to lose out on Keita this summer, but if we land VVD I'd actually consider it a successful window really (would be better to land a CM, but I think we can manage)

yeah, I could see us with both in the end.. or neither.. VVD would hurt the most.. going into the season with Lovren as our first team LCB is depressing..
Posted on 8/10/17 at 9:57 am to TFTC
Absolutely, VVD is a key (and also the far more likely to end up on the squad by September)...

FSG dropping the hammer on the barca rumors:
We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.

Bascombe and Joyce reporting it's true...
edit Reddy and Pearce are now on board...
I am conflicted with this one... Part of me says keep him, it's a WC year so he is going to want to play well...
Part of me says sell him... for £120mm... I don't know who we could get though...
Seri has a £35mm release clause... Kovacic has a £45mm...
frick me!!!!
