I got weak for a second. I was working on the computer and had the Russillo show on and just kept seeing that scroll over and over again. My favorite was ESPNFC were just talking about how big of a loss it is as if it is over. Stevie hung tough though and said that he won't comment until everybody realizes it's not going to happen.

He's almost surely gone. When Barcelona comes calling for a South American or Spanish player it's impossible for them to turn down their boyhood dream. I said last week that it was a red flag he set out for the match with a sore back. Still has sore back and is training away from the team. I've seen this too many times in the past with players about to leave. Either they, or the club, doesn't want the player to get injured before a trade so they "fake" an injury to keep him out of a match until the deal is complete. That's too much money for FSG to turn down for Coutinho

Forgive me Zab, I didn't take my own advice.

He's almost surely not.
FSG would have to be Mike Ashley level dysfunctional to sell him this late in the window with no back up plan lined up. Its not happening.

Thank you P&G, if FSG would sell Cou at this late date having to this point straight up whiffed on our top two targets after all that shite about 200 being spent and what a huge summer it's going to be I would be shocked and appalled.

You just have to love Gini's smile
ALl in all - the color will line up well with Standard Chartered. I think its supposed to be about 5m a year for the sponsorship, which isn't bad.
About this Cou stuff - I can't see it unless he makes a fuss/transfer request. I can easily see us telling him its too late this window but a similar offer earlier in the window next year will do it, etc. But we don't have time to line-up a real replacement, get him in for preseason, etc.

yeah - I don't really like it on first look... but after every single team has one soon, it will not even be worth discussing...
As you can imagine, all the usual platforms new bitching and moaning...
thats right - £25mm/5 yrs

Barcelona already booking tv air time for countinho's reveal.
Either hilariously arrogant or very worrying. I'm going with the latter because I refuse to believe FSG is that stupid.

Sooo basically the Spanish/Brazilian "sources" are full of shite (if they exist at all)...

They can save that shite for someone else. The way that they try to bully clubs into selling using the media is ridiculous. I mean they are literally reporting a meeting-involving men flying to another county- that did not happen. Hope they end up with egg on their face this window. Demebele looks likely to leave but it would tickle me pink if that fell through.

I gotta tell you boys, I am still dumbfounded that after all the talk of a 200 million dollar summer that we have spent 43 million and still have no CB to pair with Matip. And I really like AR but the fact that Albie is "back" worries the shite out of me. The unmitigated frick up with VVD is mindbogglingly incompetent and is yet another example that FSG knows how to run a Major League Baseball team but that they have no clue how to operate in the transfer window. I love Klopp but I must say that I am a bit unnerved that he really had no backup for our two top targets. That all being said, buckle up because I think we are going to score a ton of goals and give up a ton. It's going to be fun to watch, I just thought it might be a little different this year in the back end.

I think you're a little premature on the no CB thing... Still think VVD is in an LFC kit come Sept. 1.
Agree with you on LB, but if AR can progress under Klopp he'll be a good piece of business

There's still time in the window. VVD just put in his transfer request. The bookies have him ending up at Liverpool and they have more skin in the game than us as fans
Posted on 8/9/17 at 9:58 am to JackVincennes
Oh and as for not having a replacement for Keita, wasn't that the narrative all summer? Like he was a want not necessarily a need and that we were all or nothing in to get him?
Posted on 8/9/17 at 10:27 am to Riseupfromtherubble
I've always though Soton would drag their feet as long as possible. There's no benefit for them to have VvD at Liverpool for training all summer. Let the league start, see if Liverpool fall out of CL, and then address it. If Liverpool still wants him and VVD still wants out, you take the 60-70 mil you were getting anyway, and player has to be worked into the team during the season.
I thought it would be done this week but the earlier frick up just encourages Soton to hold on longer.
I think Liverpool were afraid to sign another CB and then lose VVD to Chelsea/MC. Thinking Liverpool couldn't afford 100 mil for two CB. I would have rather this obviously but it's not my money.
Anyway I'm ready for Saturday and glad I got my shirt before that sleeve patch.

We have a need there now imo. I'm not a huge fan of Ox but he's better than nothing.
Hendo can't stay fit all year. That's just the reality of it. If he goes down before Lallana is back then we're dangerously thin in the midfield. Can, Gini, Couthino with Milner, Grujic, Woodburn as the reserves is not enough to keep pace on 4 fronts.
Let's face it, the style Klopp plays and what it requires in training is going to lead to injuries. Couple that with a few injury prone players and it's a recipe for disaster with the current depth
