I hope you guys are right with the VVD situation working itself out, and I agree with Naby being a want and not a need. Of course, I think it has been brought back into the spotlight with the injury to Lallana and Henderson's injury issues worry me. What the hell, let the chips fall where they may I'm ready go Saturday.

Problem is - if Hendo is injured again for a long stretch, Can is our only guy that we know can truly play the deepest role for all comps. Yes, the Can who also usually has a month or two spell on the sideline each year. Klopp worked Gini there some this pre-season out of necessity, but I don't know if he's good enough in that role. I don't think Grujic, Cou, Lallana, etc. can play that at all.

The word on the street is that Keita might be back on in the next couple of weeks.

I usually stay away from the standard LFC doom and gloom that we have gotten so familiar with as a fanbase in the recent past. However, I cannot help but rant given how it seems the transfer window is fizzling out. What the team needs is some serious investment at the top end and a few years of constantly performing at a high level. Overspend if you have to. The owners must realize that regardless of the current state of things the brand has suffered immensely in the last decade of serious underperformance. This is not Germany, Spain or France where you can spend sparingly and build a quality team that challenges and finishes at or close to the top and slowly claws back the brand equity. If they want to retain the value of their investment they need to invest in the team and by extension in the brand. All that said, if we were to bag VVD and Keita before the end of the window I'd be elated and this rant would be pointless.

If we are unable to add to the team this summer I hope to god that Klopp pulls a rabbit out of the hat, we finish in the top 4 and at least have a good run in the UCL. Otherwise we will go back to being unable to attract the right players and the impetus picked up in the last couple of years will be lost.

TL:DR: Need investment in players. Otherwise we are in a bit of a pickle.

I think FSG is catching some undue criticism here... They clearly identified the top class players they wanted and have kinda gotten fricked over by two clubs who refuse to play the transfer game.

Should they have identified top class players as back ups? Yes.

Does 100% of not spending enough this summer fall on them? No, not in my opinion

Not buying it. Almost to the point I'd rather see RBL lose 20 million on him and just sign him next year. I think the player wants to come to merseyside. He's a young player that is as much for the future as the now. Turn our attention to an established box-to-box guy and buy Keita next summer. Despite their financial prowess, a 20 million loss is a 20 million loss, you don't become a global business giant by pissing away that sort of money. If their pompous sporting director wants to piss away 20 million for 9 months of football, have at it.

Vidal, Matuidi, Seri...there are options out there cheaper than Naby Keita that can step right into the starting 11. Go sign them and spit on RBL next year and take the player anyway

I agree... lets face it, we don't have a sugar daddy owner.. these guys aren't going to go into their own pockets to fund transfers.. we have money and they are willing to spend it... I get not spending if we can't get what we want/need..

Some people just like to bitch so much... It's so contradictory too..

Build a new stand and try to raise ticket prices... GREEDY BASTARDS!! though everyone knew we needed it to stay competitive and generate revenue..

Put a fricking arm patch on the shirt.. GREEDY BASTARDS!! though they want us to sign every galactico under the fricking sun...

Drives me crazy...

I don't think you can be CL Cup tied prior to group stage.

Midfielders: Coutinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Milner, Grujic, Brannagan, Ejaria, Woodburn

Don't get me wrong I don't agree with the "greedy bastards" trope. FSG have been sensible and I agree with most if not all of what they've done since taking over.

I'm merely concerned that we may lose the impetus that we have gained in the last year and a half. Clubs like Southampton talking as if Liverpool wasn't an echelon above them was not possible when I started watching the reds and we need to get back to that perch. The only way to that is to do whatever it takes to add some heavyweights to our squad and push the performance envelope to remedy the damage the brand has taken in the last decade. The rules of the game have changed and if we wanna play with the big boys we need to act like them or else the giant fan base will wither and the investment made by FSG will lose value.

I never even notice those arrows, so thats cool...

they should make them worth something, so they could add value... x amount of down votes and you're banned for a week/month/etc..

not sure how you could reward up votes... but now Ive lost interest...

I get it... I haven't always agreed with everything (see early moneyball) they've done... They would be silly to sell Coutinho this late in the window... and stunt the progress Klopp has made...

But people act like they are siphoning money out of the club and spending it on yachts and planes... I wouldn't doubt if they actually lost some in the grand scheme of things, so far...

I'm sure they one day intend to sell LFC, at hopefully, a nice profit... They know the only way to make that happen is to make them competitive in the league and europe...

You know people. 90% of them are mingebags that don't know their arse from a hole in the ground. Which is why I hate most of them.

I just don't want any outgoings and want the spine of the team strengthened this summer. Then I want us to Hulk smash this season and show the bitch arse pretenders their place in line.
