it's because they both occupy the same role and take turns rather than when Cameron is on the pitch he knows his role is to stay back more which frees up the greater talent of Bradley.
But, Jones's role for the national team isn't exclusively to hold. He has shown repeatedly why that is so
Any central midfielder at this level who has the range of Jones or Bradley should be able adjust their positioning to their midfield partner

They don't though, even when they play well they play well individually on the same pitch rather than working together well.

Bradley drops deep even when Cameron's out there. He's our best deep-lying playmaker type, it's going to happen. Also Jones has hung back plenty tonight and Bradley's had freedom to roam and get forward, which he's done quite a bit.
I loved how Cameron played against Panama, but it was one game. I wouldn't be against giving him more chances, but blanket statements about how they work well together after one game is a bit much (if you don't think Jones and Bradley work well together, fine I disagree but it's all a matter of opinion)

Ah yeah, the ter stergen OG, Dempsey's marvelous hits, the last minute Evans goal etc are all due to that pairing.
ETA: I think it's fairly obvious everyone here is stubborn on their opinions of our CM, so I'll just agree to disagree.

That was a big deal in South Africa.

Would think that it'd be negligible at most

Yep. Old style US soccer from back when we had less talent. Shouldn't need that tonight. Be patient, control the possession and wait foutre the seam.

My opinion is pretty amateur and pedestrian. I'm no expert.
