Tradition would demand that a scouse skipper not be FORCED out, but let to leave on his own accord, though.
For the record, I would love Hendo to finish his career provided he knows that he will have a Milner like role in the coming years... Also, without knowing any details of what he is asking for, I could agree with FSG not offering an aging/injury prone player a bumper contract... if thats the case.

I agree about the new contract. I will say this though, if they sell him this Summer it will be a revolt. We should be looking at a big season this year with him playing a key role. Sometimes I wonder if FSG is aware of what pro active public relations is.

As close to the vest as Michael Edwards plays things, I don't think there's any chance in hell he lets the nucleus of his team disintegrate. Gini is one thing, Hendo is something entirely different.

I have a hard time believing he'll be sold this summer...
That said, while I have been in the pro-hendo camp for years... I think the fan base is still spilt down the middle on him honestly...

Maybe two years ago, but I think most are now firmly in his camp. It all depends on what he's asking for. He's getting older and can't stay healthy. I would be absolutely gutted if we sold him, but if he wants a 4 year at 200k a week I can understand FSG taking pause.
Edit: I now see you made that exact point above

In my mind, the issue is we have a lot of players over 30 or turning 30 soon. We likely can't afford a bunch of older players on top wages.
I think we will likely see a few sad transfer outs in the next 1-2 years while some of these guys still have value.

Yep. I'm stocking up the tissues.

Listen to us, though. We are in SUCH a different place now than we were not long ago under Rogers.
Nice feeling to be complaining about tough decisions like this that keep the squad relatively young and 100% a threat on the world stage of football.

Stark nailed it. I think this is the last year for this group as a whole. You can’t have too many of your best players over 30.

Depends on who we buy to replace them....

Has there been anymore news on Neco trying to force a move out?
I know we’re set at cb and the focus is on a Gini replacement/midfield/attacking depth but I still think we’d be playing with fire not having a true backup to TAA and just playing Gomez at rb if Trent has to miss any extended period of time for injury
Similarly, I know Robbo has been an absolute workhorse who never gets hurt the last few seasons but are we confident in Tsmikas being EPL quality or would we really just do another long stint of Milner at lb if anything happened to Robbo?
I get that we have a limited budget and can’t have great quality backups at every position but still…..if last year proved anything it’s that shite can hit the fan REAL hard and REAL fast with injuries. (You can never be prepared for your top 5 cb all being out though )

Nothing new on Neco since that news first broke.

Looks like Harry Wilson is finalizing move to Fulham. At one point I really thought he would break through and play a solid role on the first team

Does Klopp leave with this group and we do a retool with Gerard coming in?
Posted on 7/26/21 at 10:50 am to Tmcgin
I think Pep is the next man up for manager. Gerrard will get a run with a Prem team after Rangers and then he'll be Pep's understudy, with the understanding that he is the heir apparent.

Pep? Is such a thing possible? He seems to want to go to the places with the biggest checkbooks.
While I would rather Stevie have a short run in the premier league (or really any league which creates some ups and downs he has to navigate), I don't want to see him manage against us lol.
Shaq next up on the sell list.

There is only one Pep - Pep Lijnders. frick Guardiola, I don't want that loser.

Klopp’s current assistant Pep, not Gurdiola.
And yeah, looks like Shaq will be going to Lazio soon.
