Great thread. Great post. Would not read again.
Has OP watched Dempsey in the last ever? Did he suddenly expect him to magically stop being selfish?

Bradley is our version of Jordan Henderson at this level now. Playing in the MLS was a bad move. He still had plenty of time before coming back home.

Cameron might be the class of the US on the pitch at this point. Outside of the bad corner marking.
Maybe needs to be in midfield.
I actually think we would play better with he and FJ in the midfield.

Miazga. Might as well go young and get them ready now.

Reward another guy for not playing?

Yeah. I agree it hasn't panned out well. I think he should've found another European club. I just hate how everybody hates on MLS when we've had really successful players develop there or play large chunks of their careers there.
MLS tends to either get too much praise or too much criticism with far too few opinions that seem objective.
It's certainly a good enough league for useful players for the USMNT to develop.
However, Bradley is perhaps the best example that the US needs a few more top players being as sharp as they get playing in a league like Serie A.
It tends to show when the team faces a talented squad like Colombia that's going to do things, like, for example, close off passing lanes a lot quicker than players see very often playing outside the top few leagues.

Watching the game with my father, he commented that it looks like Bradley is careless on the ball. The old man was spot on, I think. It looks like Bradley expects to have all the time in the world each time he touches the ball. I'm not sure if any of that can be attributed to having more time and space in MLS or if he was somehow surprised by a high-pressing Colombia team. The MLS explanation may have some real merit though.

Cameron was directly culpable for the first goal by Colombia. Cameron plays in the Premier League. Yedlin was directly culpable for the second goal by Colombia. Yedlin plays in the Premier League. Wood was very weak in front and offered zero offense. Wood plays in the Bundesliga. The best chances the US had came from Dempsey, who forced the Colombian GK to make two good saves.
This thread is ridiculous. I understand the emotional need to find a bogeyman but I still wish people would resist it.

I am surprised I was able to put together a sentence.

I think the more sensible way to view it is that we could really use more players playing more often in better leagues.
I think the MLS "problem" is not in our control, for the most part. As I see it, we don't have talent that can fill rosters in better leagues. I'm sure there are examples, Bradley perhaps, where the choice of league may be important. But in general, I don't think "choice" has much to do with it.

Perry sure Bradley handed them the ball that lead to the Mexican arse fricking on that penalty call.

Bradley hasn't had the form we would expect from him since leaving Chievo, but God damn this is some reactionary shite.

Bradley has sucked for a while now, but people are hesitant to criticize him for whatever reason.
I thought Zardes was probably the best MLS guy last night.

Our top guns playing in MLS is a huge issue, BUT Klismann does them no favors playing them out of position and asking them to go away from their strengths
Clint Dempsey at 33 should be put in a position to have to run all over the place as essentially a false 9

Whose control is it? If we didn't have 20+ teams that talent would be more concentrated.
For the record I think the MLS helps the minows of CONCACAF a lot more than it helps the US. You can't deny Yedlin's defensive improvements in just a year in the PL.

Well it depends on the problem being discussed.
I think a lot of people too broadly look at MLS as a poor proving ground for the USMNT (not saying it isn't) simply because we draw a lot of players from that pool.
Which is valid, to me, only to the extent those players would actually have opportunities elsewhere.
I don't necessarily disagree regarding how it builds up other CONCACAF teams. Nor about Yedlin. But how many Yedlin-level talents do we have available?
