Well since this is being discussed everywhere, let's throw a little what if into it. DeMarcus Cousins reminds me a little of Suarez so let's make up a hypothetical using him. Let's say during a game he walks down the court and bites Chris Bosh. Not during a scuffle for a loose ball but just away from the play in a non heated moment. The NBA plays 82 games and the EPL 38. So Suarez got 26% of a season suspended. DeMarcus would have to get 21 games for 26%. Does anyone think he'd get less? It would be interesting to see, but I think it would be close. If Kobe or LeBron did it would it be less? I think so. Just curious to see what others think and try to take the conversation away from too little too many, The FA is crazy talk.

Funny there was a hockey player who bit someone on the ice recently. No suspension

Don't really know the details though

Yeah, I was trying to come up with a sport where punching people in the face wasn't considered part of the game.

Anytime in the last two days that I heard or read that someone said it was excessive, it has baffled me. Forget about his past that has to go into the decision for the suspension; he fricking bit somebody. To me, it's just like spitting on someone. It's about the lowest thing you can do. I don't care if Branislav isn't injured, it's just downright disrespectful.

Then, as others have brought up, whatever the suspension is, it's essentially decreased by 4. This season is done. There is nothing left to play for but possibly the pride of overtaking Everton.

That talk is in reference to punishing the team... which should not be taken into account...

But, personally, I'm sure Luis would love to win the golden boot and that will not happen now... so, this does have a little merit..

Too much imo. As lots of people are saying, a bite is less dangerous than a possible career-ending challenge into someone's knee, ankle, etc. Aguero's stomp of Luiz was waaaay more dangerous than this and he got nada.

Biting is so bizarre I think thats why he got hammered.

It's because it is so socially unacceptable. Spitting on someone is essentially harmless, but if somebody did it to you, most would erupt in a blind rage. Biting is the same thing. Using a racial epithet is completely harmless, but most would agree that using it on the pitch deserves a large ban.

I think the danger in something is not always the best way judge how long a suspension should be. Just look at the actions of goalkeepers; diving into legs, punching balls clear, etc. These are all extremely dangerous plays, but it is socially acceptable.

One of the hosts (didnt catch his name) on Counter Attack - Sirius yesterday, mentioned that when he was a goal keeper he kept a bobby pin in his shorts, so if someone was getting to close to him on corners... he'd stick 'em...

It's because you have to literally be either crazy or an outright pos to do that to someone. Suarez is both and he's done it TWICE. 10 games was the min. he was going to get. If they really wanted to do justice they would postpone it until the start of next season.
