That was in October 2011, the ESPN book came out 6 months before that.

Fiore exists for the casual fan tuning in - not the hardcore message board/reddit tactics guy. Not saying it’s working, but it’s a strategy. They want someone to counterplay with Lalas bc Lalas takes himself so seriously in his shtick.

Something about Fox’s production seems cheap to me - I’ve thought this about watching American football broadcasts as well - ESPN just looks cleaner and higher quality.

On what planet does Fiore relate to the casual fan?

Bc he’s a cornball over the top funny guy . I’m sure he rates well with WAGs and children stumbling into the broadcast.

Anyone with a Gyasinho avatar on the internet wouldn’t be the person they are trying to sell him to

My favorite of all the bribes, in the Qatar situation, was when USA soccer sent Clinton in to seal the deal, use his charm, and get that bid, then suddenly................

Qatar has the bid, and Clinton Foundation gets a nice check from Qatar business men into their foundation. LOLOL

Double checked the book. It was NBC who was shocked they lost the World Cup rights after John Skipper came out of no where to win them for ESPN. I do remember reading that about ESPN too, will have to check around.

I think so too. Especially since they have a partnership with Sky Sports now.

Agree and I believe now Comcast is the largest media conglomerate.
So they’d def have the cash to bid for it
Who wouldn’t want Rebecca Lowe in the studio?

Tirico would be back as well, so would the Men in Blazers, you would get great commentators with the Sky Sports deal, all you would need is to put together a commentator duo for USMNT matches (assuming we actually make it this time) and it would basically be on par with those great ESPN packages, talent-wise.

Kyle Martino working color for USMNT.
He did it in the olympics for NBC with Arlo and it was great

Fox is in the bleacher report tier when it comes to production value.
