They have been doing that for years, but yeah…I think it’s stupid as well because I prefer racism.

Lol

They were doing it every match post George Floyd, but people thought it was a meaningless gesture (including some prominent black players) so now they do it "selectively". I guess there must have been some racism somewhere in the last week and awareness needed to be raised.

I’m for ending racism, ALL racism. Won’t happen though, because some people hijacked the definition of racism and use it as a tool and money maker.

They should just paint End Racism across the entire field if they’re truly serious

In other news, Southampton will be officially relegated in about 30 minutes.

Not sure why anyone has a problem with this.

I don’t believe it cost money. And if it did. It’s not your money.

I would hope most people are against racism.

It is a needed reminder there is still racism and we should not allow it.
Racist abuse of players and their family. As well as fans happens weekly.

Starting a post about why you don’t agree with it takes about as much time as the kneeling.

And then argue with people that don’t share your opinion takes up more time than kneeling before a game.

So it obviously not about taking up your time.
And I don’t think it’s about spending other peoples money.

Needed for who? You think racism will be changed at all in a positive way by doing this? Extremely doubtful that a racist sees that and says "Gee, I never thought that my evil ways were so bad. I won't be racist any more." If anything, this turns more people away from the message and to resent those pushing it on them, because the message itself implies that the reader may be racist.

Bully for you.

I hate meaningless symbolism. Especially when it is forced on people.

I’m thinking the kids raised to be racist. And possibly seeing their hero (Haaland or whoever) showing publicly that he is against racism and that kid potentially thinking…
Maybe I don’t have to be racist.

Even if that chance is very very slim.

It’s greater than zero.

And it cost nothing and doesn’t take up any time.

Does it though? How many people stopped watching or decided not to start watching EPL because of this? How many people did it drive further into racism?

It’s greater than zero.

So less than a minute of kneeling to end racism(don’t recall them ever broadcasting more than that).

has stopped people from watching a sport they supposedly like?
A sport with a lot of minority players that still claim racism happens in.

Most be pretty racist to give up on a sport they supposedly like for less than a minute of a message they must really not like.

And the ones that don’t start watching because of a short message about racism. Good

Here is an example:
I cannot stand how long half times have become for champions league. It annoys the piss out of me.

I can’t stand they have f’ing water breaks when temperature gets too hot.
Talk about un-soccer

I hated no fans during Covid.

Yet none of these drive me away from watching.

Non of them angered me so bad I started a post and argued with people over it.

And all took up more time than the kneeling to end racism.

But I guess I didn’t like them as much as some people don’t like kneeling against racism.
