They just need to stop throwing money at every problem they run into. The new youth system/facilities they have built are awesome. They just need to have a bit more integrity as a club. Otherwise the money will eventually dry up and the club will disappear along with it.

their youth academy is all for show and will stay that way if they keep buying and buying those players will never see the light of day.

Just take a look back a few years, they have been a mediocre club with a mediocre fan base. Their stadium was basically given to them by the city of Manchester that they could not even fill up on a regular basis until last year. shite their last two home games have had empty seats everywhere.

Every club goes through highs and lows. I don't know much about their fans prior to the takeover, but it seems like they are very fair-weather. Regardless, I think the youth system could be a really big benefit to them if they actually use it. But you're right, they will have to cut back on purchasing players.

I have a feeling they will turn into the english Real Madrid. No players in the senior squad that are from the academy, and a lot of busted big money transfers. FFP should be able to limit that though...

For what I can tell they do have a portion of fans that are really good

Yeah I think this move pretty much confirms that this is the direction they are going

Loyal, great atmosphere is really what I meant. I also really liked that they are a 1 city club, college town etc. reminded me most of LSU when I was picking.

About 7 years or so

ETA following the club game about 7 years. Was into international way before that.

I also think they based this off of growth. As a fan, I want to see my team improve year after year. Not necessarily in accomplishments and trophies, but in team consistency and cohesiveness. I feel like it is pretty safe to say City took a step back in almost every area.

More than likely, he is being fired purely because of results, and that is malarkey. But at the same time, I have a hard time disagreeing with the decisions based off of my personal expectations and standards.

I can see why they wanted to change managers as they did take a step back this year. That they were better last year is probably due more to Silva, Aguero, Nasri nor Ya Ya playing as well this season but it's fair to think that a new manager may get them back on track.

However, I can also see Mancini's criticism of the transfer window last summer as valid in the logic of "rich" clubs. ManU and Chelsea added difference makers. So did Bayern, PSG and Juve. Real and Barca spent in the effort. . .

Man City signed Rodwell and Kevin Kline from a Fish Called Wanda who really didn't give them as much as De Jong had + Sinclair who gave them less than A Johnson.

Judging by Mancini's comments (which also probably pissed off everyone higher up) only Nastasic was really his choice and that was a great signing even if it wasn't a huge expenditure in that they had to sacrifice Savic to Fiorentina with extra cash, where he's been excellent.

to be fair, they were rather quiet the past 2 transfer windows. no major signings

they'll probably make a splash this year, but they're also likely selling dzeko, nasri, and some others

thats how united built its self not the other way around and don't ignore the countless amount of players that we have sold. Also we buy young promising players with low price tags for the most part and not established high priced stars Zaha.

Under 35 youth players three of which 25 or younger
Welbeck
Fletcher
Evans
Cleverely

not including players out on loan, now remind me how many city players on this roster came through the youth academy.

I wouldn't imagine many, since they're catching up in short time. man city won't build a contender by relying on its youth system, just as man u, liverpool, etc don't do it, either. the scope of analysis of man city is biased, b/c they're trying to get really good, really fast (and they did)

they've slowed down. man u has made the big signing the last 2 windows. man city just bought a

wtf are talking about ever heard of the class of 92

as for buying RVP and city not making a big splash is not the norm so keep trying. Both teams have their track records.

De Gea
Hernandez
Young
Rafael
Jones
etc
with Zaha and Henríquez out on loan.

are all young players we got on the cheap who actually player, city doesn't do this and depends on big name expensive players.

Uh, De Gea's transfer broke a British record for highest amount for a goalkeeper. Wasn't "on the cheap."

I've heard that Man City has traditionally been for people from Manchester while Man U was supported by people outside the city. Is that true?
