You don’t pick a team randomly, it either comes naturally or through some type of connection.

I kind of sort of followed the EPL but never closely. I thought maybe choosing a specific team to follow might help me get more into it. I chose West Ham because I was looking for a team to follow and I said “Well, I love Iron Maiden and Steve Harris is a big West Ham guy.” I didn’t know how it would go I but I got hooked immediately.

Then I learned about WHU’s history… basically a century of mostly on the bottom half of the table with some middling success with random 2-3 year spurts of genuine success to make you think “this year they can do it”

It reminded me so much of Gamecock football it felt like kindred spirits

I’m a Toffee (heading to Liverpool to see them vs Tottenham 4/1/23), but don’t wish that upon anybody.

Please explain the "Toffee" reference.

I think it’s as simple as there were Toffee shops around the neighborhood where Everton was formed more than a century ago.

A club that puts a drunk tank as its logo should have had a better nick name than that.

Who are you? Did your random google search also cause your fake hatred for other teams?

Agree with the posters so far, it’s got to be an organic type thing. I’m an Everton supporter because of Tim Howard back in the day. Followed him because of the USMNT and would watch his matches. Grew to follow the club and support them even after Tim was long gone.

I believe that Leeds will have quite a few new supporters for this reason. Exciting young US players and Jesse at the helm (for now anyways). Plus their matches are always exciting for both good and bad lol. Like Everton they have a lot of history and some rabid supporters….. and we both haven’t won shite in the top flight in a long time.

Follow the saints, they always give away their best players. Just like the NOLA Saints until Drew came along.
Hoping one day to see match at St. Mary's.

Liverpool
Discovered them back in the day (70's) while listening to a Pink Floyd album (Meddle). Any club that has their "club song" featured in Pink Floyd is pretty cool by me.

Hot Spur here. A young Lad named Harry Kane scored and I became a fan forever.

I chose Liverpool through a random online matchmaker then I started to follow them while watching as much EPL as I possibly could through Telemundo and Peacock. Then I watched the UCL final last year with a group of other Liverpool fans and it stuck.
