I get it. They have to be called and it sorta happens in football but at least you usually kind of have an idea it’s coming

That’s on the broadcast team, but not abnormal for the play to finish on a run like that before it’s recognized.

No different from calling back a touchdown because of holding/OPI, or disallowing a hockey goal because someone hit the goalie, or awarding the basket after a block because of goaltending.

The faking of injuries. Honestly killes any chance of a casual fan like myself joining in.

Just give them a couple timeouts each.

Send anyone injured off the field until the next official stoppage in play.

Once you understand it and watch enough you can spot offsides a mile away.

No doubt. Those are easy NFL instances that get called out as flops and harped on.

Those guys also had to leave the game. Soccer players get murdered, survive, and go on offense in less than 20 seconds.

I have to watch a breakdown of how they didn't get injured while hearing an analyst try to sell me on it.

If I was running full tilt (it's slow, but anyway) and someone stepped on my pinkie toe, I'm going to go flying dramatically. It's not about how "hard" the hit is, it's the sudden change in momentum and balance. Haaland is 6'5" and just under 200lb, taking a shoulder from him while he's running at you isn't going to be pleasant. There are bullshite flops, but not many that are LeBron level.

Can make soccer more watchable with 2 simple changes.

1- if your are rolling around on the ground in agony that’s fine, then go off to the sideline for mandatory 5 minutes before you come back. What’s that? Oh it’s not that bad, then get up off the ground and play

2- no offsides as long as offensive player is within 1-2 feet of last defender either way

They have to stay in the game or they can't come back in. We all hate the flopping, even your biggest soccer fan. But it's an attempt to get a penalty called and a chance to get a rest.

It's annoying for sure, but if any other sport had rules where you can't sub out then back in then they would be doing the same thing. They already do it in basketball.

Can't they run without all the players?

They roll on the ground for 5 minutes grabbing a part that wasn't hit. And that is the minority of hits, most are just running into each other.

Im just an outsider saying what kills the game for the casual fan. I would never tune in to watch this because I am watching people faking on the ground 20% of the time.

I'm more than a casual fan and this has always been the most annoying thing about the sport. The fact that all of these players who get "hurt", do the EXACT same performative dance...rolling around back and forth while grabbing their leg, slapping the ground with their hand. It's all learned behavior and it kills the fan experience because it's obvious to absolutely everyone that this is a performance. When somebody is actually hurt, amazingly, they don't do any of those things I mentioned because everyone reacts to real pain differently.

They let it play out if it’s remotely close even if the AR is going to call it on the field so that if the video review shows onside the goal will count, as opposed to blowing it dead and not knowing what would have happened without the mistake.

No different than borderline fumble calls in football.

Judging by the downvotes I got it is taboo to bring it up.

Seems the commentators and refs are all in on the farce. Just give them 2 timeouts a piece so they don't come off as fakers and soft.

Call a timeout and the refs have 5 minutes to award it so the momentum cant be swayed.

I guess. You don't have to compare this to American football.

And yes, comparing it to the worst part of American football is not wrong. It is terrible. There is no consequence in soccer though.
