Judging by the downvotes I got it is taboo to bring it up.
Your objections are noted the same way that a person who shows up at a Super Bowl or national championship watch party and corners anyone who will listen to tell them all the reasons you don’t watch any more than that one game per year.

No doubt. Probably why soccer is a third tier sport and will stay that way.

Can make soccer more watchable with 2 simple changes.

1- if your are rolling around on the ground in agony that’s fine, then go off to the sideline for mandatory 5 minutes before you come back. Wha’s that? Oh it’s not that bad, then get up off the ground and play

2- no offsides as long as offensive player is within 1-2 feet of last defender either way

Also 2 more that would really be great changes and add much more excitement to the game :

1. just get rid of the offside rule. What s that about anyway. Basketball doesnt have off sides and it seems to work fine.

2. Also I have seen so many balls hitting the goal posts each game that if you just widened and raised the hieght of the goal posts by six inches all the way around you could probable add 3-4 points to every game.

That was such a good burn I am rolling around grabbing the affected area in severe pain.

Seriously though. Why do soccer dans defend this behavior so much rather than wanting change?

No one is defending it. Your objections are noted as previously mentioned.

Im just an outsider saying what kills the game for the casual fan. I would never tune in to watch this because I am watching people faking on the ground 20% of the time.

Then don't watch?

The rule is they have to come off the field if they receive treatment. And the ref only has to stop the game for head injuries. Youd say they are faking with blood streaming out of their head.

No one is defending. But you don't know the rules and are simply yelling at made up bullshite.

The players have to come off the field. That's already a rule.

Funny you post the football gifs. Coaches can now get fined 100k for players faking an injury. Soccer players would go broke if they made that rule

Also American basketball fans complain non stop about the flopping. Nobody defends it and gets their knickers in a wad over it….What is off putting to me is ther literal fake moaning and groaning once on the ground? What is that shite? Diving to the ground to make sure the ref sees it, ok I get it. But the absolute game crying and such doesn’t even make sense

Anyway, it also sucks in football after every big play you hold your breath now. I feel the same with any goal in soccer
It’s unfortunate but it does take the initial visceral reaction out of it somewhat

I have a much better appreciation for soccer now with how hard it is to score and the balance of a game to get that separation
