USSF has offered him an extension. Aside from that, now that we’re through winning the group, how are we grading him so far?

Can’t really complain about anything right now. He’s getting an A from me

A question is who is an up and coming talent that will be fighting for a spot in 4 years? Anyone know of some names?

Grade is a B/B+ so far. Get to the quarters, it's an A.
I don't like nat team managers getting multiple cycles, it never works outside France.
Make it to the semis, give him another cycle. Make the finals, make him coach for life.

I’m withholding any judgment until WC is done. Like Broski though, if he makes it to the quarters, that’s a pretty bang up job considering how little time he had to install his system.
His lineups, formations, and strategies in game 1 were what was needed to perform well in those games.

In a sense it’s tough because so much rides on the outcome of one or two wc games.
But it’s fair to be disappointed if we don’t at least make the round of 16. That being said for what he was hired to do and where we are entering the round of 32 it’s an A plus. We could not possibly be in better shape entering the round of 32.

Too early for an extension.

I don't think this will happen, but if we choke against Bosnia, it technically would be our worst performance in a World Cup since 2006.

I think his managerial style is what we need. I'm not even talking about his tactics as much as his passion and charisma.
We are never going to out pass Spain, out skill Brazil, or produce talent like France...but we tend to produce physical players and have a passionate "win above everything" sporting culture.
The Pochettinos, Klopps, Simeones of the world lean into that.
I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but it looks like this group has bought into what he's selling tactically. I don't mind the extension if we're operating under the assumption that feelers were put out and we couldn't do any better.
The results still have to play out, but it feels like we've taken a step forward in this cycle relative to where we've been, which frankly has pinballed between poor and stagnant with occasional spurts of grinding out results. In other words I think this USMNT side at full strength would beat any that ever came before it.
This group looks like they can take the pitch with nearly anyone and play. When Belgium beat us in aet, that was an arse whooping masked by a Tim Howard masterclass. This team feels like it can hop out there with Germany and win 4/10 matches. For as shitty as the result was last night, that was for all intents and purposes our B team that outclassed Turkey for large stretches of the match. That's a side that went 6-1-1 in UEFA qualifying and drew with Spain in the process.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't make the quarters in a US World Cup. We've made the round of 16 every time starting in 2010 with every shite dick we've had as coach.

It would be devastating. It feels like there is a tsunami of momentum right now around this team and the sport as a whole in this country. It's a powder keg ready to explode, they just need to light the fuse.
A loss to Bosnia would be dousing it in water. It's knockout football so anything can happen, but I think it would be right up there with the TnT match as the worst result in the history of the team if they were to bow out against Bosnia

Hard to give him anything other than an A right now with how we are heading into the knockouts.
If we lose to Bosnia though it’ll be a huge disappointment and, honestly, anything other than a top 8 finish is going to be a disappointment at home with the team we have and with how we’ve been playing.

And the last coach that didn't make it the Round of 16 also happened to be the same guy that is the only coach to make it the quarters.

I don't have a problem with them letting Poch know that we'd potentially be interested in keeping him, obviously pending what happens in the rest of the World Cup.
I get the "no coach should get more than one cycle" but he got half a cycle and who are our other realistic options if he moves on? I can't go back to the good ole boys system with Gregggg, Bruce Arena, or Bob Bradley.

USSF is a fricking mess and always has been.
Happy with anyone from outside the MLS/USSF bubble. I think coaching a NT is a better lifestyle than a top European league.
