Let me preface this by saying that I am not a soccer guy, but my kids play it so I tuned in for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the excitement of a lot of the games.
Yes, last night was disappointing, especially how soft we played and how we had no agenda, but the overall grade of the whole tournament is an "A"
b/c it got a non-soccer person interested and tuning in.
I also liked the sportsmanship that I witnessed on all sides.
The stadiums were pristine and the fans were great.

Tournament as a whole has exceeded expectations.
USMNT's performances only met expectations, which feels like some meat was left on the bone considering everything that was in our favor.

Don't disagree with this take. Pretty fair assessment.

I think "meat left on the bone" understates it.
A competitive loss would have still resulted in an overall huge success for this program.
Getting outclassed in the manner they did I think gave back a lot (not all) of what was earned.

I've enjoyed it. US does a great job hosting.

They exceeded expectations set back in March when most of us thought this team was doomed. On a macro level, getting BTFO in the R16 for the millionth time on home soil in a tournament we've been anticipating for more than a decade, big disappointment.

Same. I'm a very casual soccer fan but have tuned in for the World Cup. The World Cup is >>>> than the Olympics when it comes to fan support and country pride. Its been amazing to watch. Watching the whole stadium sing the Star Spangled Banner last night gave me goosebumps. That was about the highlight of last night.

Yeah, no one can complain about American fans' involvement.
Love this much better than the (Summer) Olympics any day.
