Because Brendan Rodgers.
When Poldi starts he scores.. Same thing can be said for Wenger. I really think Pool needs to go for broke in Europa. Those Thursday night games in Romania and Serbia suck, but it is the only way Brendan is there next year.

I don't think Borini is great
me either, but his off-the- ball movement is MUCH better than pretty much anything we have out there now... he's the closest to Suarez, in that regard, that we have....
Balotelli for sure doesn't move without the ball effectively.... and Lambert, Jesus....he's just old and slow, and terribly ineffective...
Sterling, around the box, looks hesitant and "ifs" at the ball too much... nor does he have that vision to create lanes of opportunity for others yet... Henderson has one of the worst 1st touches out there... every pass seems to ricochet off his foot...
man, we just got lots of problems, that i'm not sure can really be fixed right now... we HAVE to get another striker... not sure what they plan on doing, but i don't really trust their valuation of players right now... Lovren looks like fricking TERRIBLE buy now... Lallana looks good with the ball, but he doesn't play often enough to get on a roll... he needs more time on the field with this group...

Sanchez is our savoir, and he could have been yours. He is the most "Suarez" type replacement possible. Never quits and only wants to win.

I get what Borini brings and I agree with you... Why not play him?
Must be trying to freeze him out to show him he should've left this summer... He's cutting off his nose, blah blah blah

Borini? I didn't mention him. Comparing Borini to Alexis is madness.

Damn. I leave and come back to find I forgot my pitchfork.
I'm definitely not happy with everything, but unless there's a serious spiral downwards, I don't think BR will be or should be sacked. We still got a long way to go and I will never believe we should pack it in after one or a few games.

No, sorry was talking to someone else...
Sanchez was my dream signing... I've wanted him since his Udinese days... Knew the Barca system would not lend itself to his strengths... Can't blame him for giving it a shot though

I dunno Zaba... We're in year three and we may be worse than when he took over... I appreciate last year, but he didn't win shite..
I may be overreacting and will revisit it after United

Much better fit in England. Ozil and Walcott back...

He's clearly trying to figure things out and I think his biggest flaws come with trust/distrusting certain players and overestimating what a lot of players can give him and even what he can do tactically.
I know he's struggling fitting pieces together and trying to pick systems he's used before that have worked to try and dominate the opponent.
The only thing i would like if KK came in would be him simplifying the shite out of it and just running a plain old 4-4-2 and put players in comfortable positions that they can play. But I really want us to maintain some kind of stability so I hope BR figures it out.

Don't want to sound 100% like the negative nancy, but I can't remember us playing worse football. I'm praying that once we get a decent striker (or studge actually comes back) we'll look somewhat decent.

Statistically, we are FAR behind the Hodge in points and, IMO, performance also. Its dreadful.

I don't know about pitchforks, but Rodgers has had some bad luck this year and compounded it with very bad lineup decisions.
Yesterday's lineup when he needed a win was bad. Trying to make lambert play 90 game after game was bad managing. One game bad lineup is excusable. Continued bad decisions makes it a Rodgers problem.
We are getting nothing from 2 of the 3 transfers we were counting on immediate need from - and the one that is actually contributing is being treated like a squad player and only starts about half the time.
He's making no sense and sticking to things that aren't working. There is no proactiveness.
Frankly - I'm not in favor of firing him at this point. But if there is no second half surge like he's had the last few years, he should be gone by the end of February. That's plenty enough time and talent to have figured it out. At that point it will be clear that he's a mid table coach without a Suarez level talent.

Rodgers deserves the rest of the season plain and simple. Last season he built our team around two players, and he has lost both of them so far this season. Those two players happened to be the top two goal scorers in the league last season. He deserves a break for losing those goals alone.
Look, I get everyone is upset, but that was only a bad lineup in hindsight. All we needed was a 1-0 win. Going into the match we needed to PREVENT goals more than we needed to score goals. What have you seen so far from this squad to suggest he could put out an "attacking" lineup, hold Basel scoreless, and score multiple goals? Nothing.
What is this people complaining about Borini? Why does he deserve to start, or even play? Because he tries hard in training? Give me a fricking break. He has been shite 90% of the time he has been in a game for us. He is not a goal threat. He runs around a lot and that's it.

I completely agree. I'm in no rush to back go square one. I'm hoping we buy some semblance of support in the form of a striker or 2 in Jan, and then maybe Balotelli will do better with some help. Maybe even the myth that is Daniel Sturridge can make an appearance sometime in the Spring.

Yet Enrique and Johnson were both starting. These guys aren't exactly the foundation of a strong defense. Rodgers' refusal to even consider Sakho is mind-blowing.

Well he's a striker, and his movement is worlds better than Lambert. Lambert is actually just a bad player. In truth neither Borini nor Lambert are good enough to play for Liverpool. But going into yesterday's match Lambert had played over 270 minutes in the last 11 days. To start him, and not even have a bench spot for Borini is stupid. Because we all knew we would be down a goal late (we all fricking knew that was going to happen), and our best goal-scoring threat was none other than Martin fricking Skrtel.

quote:At this point, he's looked best coming off the bench against tired legs and to change the dynamic. I wouldn't mind Borini being paired with Lambert or Balotelli because he gives us better movement and opens spaces, which is something the other two really lack, but he definitely can't be played as a lone striker.
Coutinho
Markovic actually looked good for the 15 whole minutes he was on
Having he and Sterling on gave us a lot more natural width and space to make passes. I'd say it's worth a look in some future games because how much worse could our attack be?

What else do you do? Manquillo at RB and Johnson at LB? Don't tell me Moreno because he is more of a winger than defender.

Literally his first week back to fitness.

Lambert can score goals. That's the most important trait of a striker. Did you watch last season? Borini's best quality as a striker is literally that he tries hard. Sure he should have been on the bench, but if you need a goal and you bring on Borini it isn't going to come.

Won't be effective until Sturridge comes back or Rodgers pairs Balo and Borini. Wouldn't even waste a starting spot with him right now.

Manquillo on right, Johnson on left seems right to me.
Haven't followed Sakho's recovery or injury at all. Actually I have no idea where to even go to get info on our injured guys.
Lambert scores goals with Southampton, who I think we can all agree are just a better football team than Liverpool. Borini managed to score 10 for Sunderland. I guess they're better than Liverpool as well.
I don't see how Lambert can possibly suit our squad. Borini, yes I can see how he can contribute something.
