One asked why the 4-4-2 formation that was so effective against Slovenia in the fall of 2011 hasn’t been used more often. A second player wondered how 14 months later the U.S. could look so disjointed in January’s scoreless draw against Canada after spending nearly three weeks together. Another asked why the U.S. is 1-2-1 in road World Cup qualifiers under Klinsmann, despite taking the lead in all four. And a fourth posed the biggest question of all: Is the U.S. even ready to play the style Klinsmann wants to see?
To me this was the hardest part to read. The players are asking the same questions we are, but they aren't getting an answer, either.

Yeah, but that wasn't your reasoning behind that statement.
True but my reason was even more solid.

This isn't about rustled jimmies or whatever people want to say. If we don't qualify for the world cup, it will be a soccer disaster in this country.
If we don't get 3 points on Friday, everyone should be pissed. If we don't get 1, he should be fired on the spot.

I feel like we should get the soccer board together at a qualifier for our very own rendition of One Day More

What the frick that was depressing.

Worst case scenario: after poor performances against Costa Rica and Mexico on Tuesday, who would you consider for the USA job?
Kreis? Kinnear? I don't see Bob coming back.

I stopped reading after the German complaints and rehash of sitting Boca.
That was eye opening. I trust Straus and his sources a lot. He was the first to know Beltran and Morrow were the only outside backs called in this go round.
That's some troubling shite. Dammit.

I'm a pretty good tenor.

Realistically, I think the best case scenario for us this cycle is as follows:
- We qualify. It won't be pretty, but we get in.
- We either make the knockout round and lose immediately or we don't make it at all.
- The Klinsmann Experiment ends.

About the German complaints... I don't really buy into this idea that cliques are detrimental to the team. Complaining about German-Americans hanging out together would be like an LSU student/fan commenting that he didn't see one single white football player eating at a table with a few black players. Friendships develop on their own. But a team is still a team.

You don't consider the fact that they are not American a good reason they shouldn't be playing for the United States?

I'm not sold on Kreis either. I know a lot of people who would rather have him, but i'm a skeptic.

What do you consider American?

Kreis is 10x the tactician that Jurgy is.

There will be skeptics for any hire. A lot of people like Bielsa, and while I think he's a good coach, it seems that controversy seems to follow him. And I don't know if his attitude is what we would need.
Who would you tab as the next manager?

From the information I was given some of these guys have never been to America until it was to practice with the USMNT.

How much of this problem is Klinsmann not having the personnel for his method?
A lot, some, none?

Excellent job of quoting the question, then not answering it at all.

@goaleric: Just read @BrianStraus article on Klinsmann and the state of the #USMNT. Change "Klinsmann" to "Sánchez" and you have Mexico from 06-08.
Hmm...
