Cabaye, Pogba and Matuidi all must really suck.

Nice. I've gotten into real arguments with friends of mine who don't really watch soccer who have been talking shite about MB. Pisses me off.

They're just repeating what they hear.
I went back and watched the Belgium game, and Bradley, though playing a deeper role (slightly), was one of our best players. Constantly playing long switches into feet, the beautiful assist, the speed in recovery.
He didn't have his best World Cup...he could have played better, but he was still good.

Most people who were hating on Bradley don't understand what his role actually is in the team.

In game thread I said he should be ashamed of himself for how he was playing. I'm sure I was just being emotional, but prior to this WC I've never thought Bradley was noticeably poor. You can chalk some of it up to ignorance, but if he had played really well, none of this talk would be happening. People love MB.

Yeah, I posted right after the Belgium match about how many excellent passes he had against Belgium.
People also slightly overrate Bradley as an attacking midfielder. I watched every single match of his at Roma and while he's capable of matches like against Mexico it's not the norm that he's going to look like Totti with consistent touches, flicks and through balls in the final third.
However, there's also the issue of the US having less chances overall so if Bradley misses on a few promising attacking chances and so does Ozil or Di Maria, for example, Bradley's stand out a whole lot more.

yeah that's pretty key. we have a much smaller margin of error. we needed him to be great to have any chance of making noise. thought he was good-very good in the last two matches. not so much in the first two.

This. I've had friends that watch soccer once every four years and think because they played rec soccer until they were 14 that they KNOW Bradley is terrible

Yeah. It's unfair for people to compare Bradley playing an advanced role to Bradley sitting deep.

But, BRO. He's supposedly the US' best player and he didn't even do any step overs or juke anyone. I mean COME ON!

I thought every attacking player, midfielder to forward, for both teams kind of sucked in that game.
For all the stars on display, the lack of precision passing in the final third was often as bad as Greece v. Costa Rica.

But Hendo didn't you hear everyone commenting during and after our games about Bradley's performance? He's the worst player on our team and should never wear a national team jersey again trolololololol

I love all the people in denial about MB that feel the need to pick and choose stats that make him look good. Please find the stats that show the # of times he failed to make the through ball pass to the person wide open because he didn't see him or how many turnovers were caused because of his terrible first touch. Unfortunately you can't because nobody keeps track of those stats. If you watch the game, it's obvious. You can pull all these great stats about how MB ran 2 marathons in each match or how his long ball accuracy is the best. He's still an average to below average midfielder.

It's almost like the Germans just didn't care what Michael Bradley did or didn't do...

Great players turn the ball over all the time. All the time. It just happens when you play in the clusterfrick that is the center of the park. MB did not play great by any means, but he played alright given he was playing out of position.
People who know 100x more about the game than anyone on this board disagree, but OK.

You're right. It's almost like neither team cared about much of anything. I wonder why?
