The rivalry between Brazil and Argentina has always been one of the most fierce in the world of football. Especially when one invokes a comparison between Pele and Maradona to know who was the best within the four lines. This Thursday, they were cast aside in the program commanded by Maradona himself, 'De la Mano Del 10', screened by the Argentine TV station Telesur .

The guest of the time was Ronaldo Phenomenon, twice world champion with the Brazilian team in 1994 and 2002, and was highly praised by Maradona. For former Argentina's 10-man jersey and 1986 World Cup champion, Brazil's former jersey 9 could have been the best in history if it were not for injuries.

"If it were not for the injuries, he would have been the best of all history," said Don Diego, who still praised Ronaldo's character.

"Ronaldo is a very good person, nothing has changed since the first time we met. Today he sees me 50 meters away and shouts at me: 'Diego' and I 'Ron', "he added.

We are lucky that Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have avoided major injuries and we've seen them hit their best. I would have loved to see what Ronaldo could do in this era as well.

I have been saying this my whole life and I saw maradona and Ronaldo play. The other that would have been top 5 without injury is Marcus van basten.

He was amazing even with his health and weight problems. I can only imagine how good he could have been at 100% for his whole career. Such a natural talent.

Speaking of injuries, it makes me sad thinking about how much better the US could have been in the mid to late 2000s if injuries hadn’t ruined the careers of John O’Brien, Stu Holden, Taylor Twellman, and Charlie Davies. Those guys would have been key contributors, no doubt.

Ronaldo was the best at shaking off contact by defenders and keeping control. Kind of the Anti Neymar. Here's a couple of good highlight videos.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like one of these is not like the others.

I presume you’re referring to Twellman. He’s definitely the weakest of the bunch, but he was really good from 04-07. Poor guy was just really unlucky with injuries that kept from becoming a mainstay with the national team and making the 2006 WC roster. He played for 1860 Munich’s reserve team when they were still a Bundesliga team and regular Champions League team, but never broke through to the first team.

He goals per 90 minutes in MLS is pretty absurd, and he’ll remain the youngest player to score 100 goals for a long time. He was the main threat on a New England almost-dynasty team that also had a young Clint Dempsey. Clint and Steve Nicol (their coach) both agree that Twellman was the better player of the two in MLS. Clint was definitely a late bloomer.

Preston North End really wanted Twellman in 2007, but New England didn’t want to lose him after they sold Dempsey, so a deal wasn’t reached. I think he would’ve had a much better career without all those injuries.

John O’ Brien is also a sad situation. Donovan thinks he was our best player, but injuries just destroyed his career.

Brasil’s big Ronaldo (not Ronaldinho who the story is about) and Italy’s Scilacci were the two most exciting players of my young fandom.

Loved him. Dude made it through the Ajax academy and started for them.

And if people don't rember he was very important for us in the 02 cup. Scored against Portugal had an assist against Korea.

Yea injuries happen when you don't take great care of yourself. Part of being the GOAT is staying in shape and ready to go. Freak injuries happen, but his were more chronic often due to not staying in tip top shape

He was so much fun to watch
