I appreciate them giving it to a defender, but I don't think this was the year to do it.
I may be biased, but Kane literally leads the Prem in assists and goals. I want to say the only other player to accomplish that was Andy Cole in 1993-94.

This isn’t the PFA award, but I think that will still go to Dias.

Dias’ impact has been even bigger than VVD’s in his award winning season, at least imo. He’s been fantastic and has completely changed the team and the back line.

It’s gonna be funny if Gundogan gets city’s player of the season.

Pump the brakes. City gave up 35 goals last season and have given up 32 with a game to go this year. Liverpool went from 38 conceded to 22

FIFY

Better consult the Egyptian King on who leads for the Golden Boot right this second...

I agree with your overall point, however.

If he doesn’t win the league and the Champions League I’ll agree. If he does then it greatly eclipses VVD that season.

So his personal impact at the club relative to VVD 2018 depends on...one more game?

Hell, city will finish 11 points behind 2018 Liverpool, who made a 22 point jump and won champions league. City are poised for a 5 point jump.

It was just a homer hot take. It is what it is. Dias is a stud

Yes?

If he helps bring the one trophy we don’t have in his first season that makes his impact all that greater.

Also help that Dias has a rotation of £40 million + CBs to work with

While VVD had Matip

Sounds like a Liverpool and VVD problem.

So, uh, Kevin de Bruyne has won the PFA player of the year award.

Anybody want to try and make sense of this one?

Lol yeah he was brilliant when he played, but he was rested down the back stretch and was hurt for awhile too. The vote took place right before the PSG matches and KDB was in top form then I guess.

This is player voted so I guess I’ll trust the lads.

It was another great year for Kev and he deserves it so I won’t complain.

Also, first time a City player has won the award the same year as the league title.

His primary partnership was Stones. If he played with Laporte a ton I'd concede, but it's John fricking Stones.

City were kinda dogshit in defense when Dias wasn't on the pitch and 6 of those goals came before he signed. He didn't play Newcastle week 36 and that's 3 more. Once he settled in we were rock solid. Not as big of a swing as VVD, but he was every bit as crucial.

Yeah, the team let in a frick ton of goals without him on the pitch.

In 32 matches in the league City gave up only 18 goals with Dias in the starting lineup and playing 90 min in all but one of those.
