Just like he does in the Premier League against the top teams.
Scores a brace against Panama and lowly Tunisia then nothing rest of the way. Yes, I know, he had 1 assist against Brazil.

He did disappear against France but if you are trying to say he didn't have a good game against Brazil then you just completely ruined any point you were trying to make.

He disappeared against France because Roberto Martinez played one midfielder and Fellaini as a target striker. This allowed Pavard to shadow Hazard, Hernandez to shadow KDB (until KDB started dropping in super deep and then Hernandez was an extra man on Lukaku), Pogba man marked Fellaini, and both Varane and Umtiti were completely clean to pick up every run from Rom and clear every cross. Varane was practically playing center field on most crosses because he had no one to pick up.

Well Belgium isn’t a man one show.....
It would be like saying Salah is shite because he didn’t single handedly take Egypt to the knockouts and disappeared in pretty much every game.
Lukaku was vital in almost every match for Belgium, but against the best defense maybe in the tournament they did their job and forced him to be ineffective.

The difference is Lukaku has a history of doing this for his club teams as well.
But yeah I agree he played well most games, and he was pretty good against Brazil.

Yeah the midfield did nothing for Lukaku. Outside of Hazards brilliant efforts in the first half, Belgium never came out to play.
Feel bad for Kompany. The rest of those guys will get another shot with a better manager.

Martinez needs all of the blame here. To me it starts and ends with him leaving radja nainggolan home and starts axel witsel. Criminal

It's not about good teams
Lukaku is one of the world's top players when he wants to be. Other times, he loafs around. I originally thought it was his youth or the fact that he had checked out at Everton. I think by now it's apparent that's just who he is. Of course the opponent and his team's performance have a lot to do with it, but it's obvious he can be taken out of games or effectively takes himself out at times.

Lukaku's strength is on hold up play and counter attacks. He is not going to wow with foot skills and shooting prowess. He was a beast vs Brazil with a different style of play.
Belgium chose to play a much more possession based game vs France than Brazil. Vs Brazil they had 43% possession and attempted 370 passes. Vs France they had 60% possession and attempted 629 passes.
Strategy did not play to his strengths vs France.

He played poorly against France but their tactics as a team left a lot to be desired.
He was fantastic against Brazil.
