I need a recommendation for a soccer book to read over the rest of the summer. I am open to anything biography, tactics, history etc...

I really enjoyed Chasing the Game and also the book Soccernomics. Chasing the Game is a history of US soccer and our quest to no longer be an afterthought in world soccer. I learned from that book that Tim Howard’s idol growing up was LSU’s own Chris Jackson, because they both played basketball and had Tourette’s.

This was very good and very easy to read.

Miracle of Castel di Sangro is a book by a famous American political writer who wrote The Selling of the US Presidency and a book about the OJ Simpson trial.
He moved to Italy for a year in the mid 90s knowing relatively little about soccer and followed a team around that had just gotten promoted to Serie B. It was basically a village team owned by a guy in the mafia that ended up playing against real teams.
The team ended up signing a handful of well-known players as well. All I’ll say is it was a very eventful year.

“A Life to Short”
It’s a book that’s more on the personal level as it’s about the life/death of German goalie, Robert Enke, who committed suicide during his playing career.

The Club is also pretty much the story of what’s happening in college sports now.

Belatedly thank you all. Last summer I read "USA 84 The World Cup that Changed the Game" that I really enjoyed. I just ordered several books off this list for this summer.

Are you a fan of any team?
If you want to go with biographies there is no better place to start than Pele.

Atlanta United but mostly USMNT. I will keep the Pele biography on the list for the future.
