Yeah I can see the building blocks, but man our defense has had some really bad lapses.
Feels like a team that will fully come together around Thanksgiving or Christmas and go on a tear the back half of the season.

I don’t like Szoboszlai in the double pivot.
They looked better when Nyoni came on and Szoboszlai went to right back. Frimpong does not look good.
I like Munoz on the right and Barcola is coming to play on the left.
Looks like Gakpo is going to City. He’s a good finisher but I’m not sure his profile is what Liverpool are looking for. Plus he’d move to the bench anyway with Barcola coming in.

Because he has always played in advanced roles... As it stands.. I'd start Barcola, Wirtz and Szobo as the three behind the striker.. Szobo in more of a RAM role.. Munoz would be a really nice option off the bench running at defenders with tired legs..
What is the fee for Gakpo? I dont think Ive seen anything concrete..

$85M pounds to Man City. It’s good business but I don’t like it. We’re already thin. He gives you depth across the front but he doesn’t make us a top 4 team or contender. I’m confused why City want him.

Gakpo for 85m is a steal, we’re getting fleeced with his current form being what it is. He has been unstoppable since before the WC.
I feel like Isak is better in two-striker formations. He wasn’t ever a target man in my mind, and that seems to be the way he is playing here. Just not many runs in behind.
I liked a lot of what I saw today outside of the issues with our back line. They fell asleep as a unit on that first goal.
Really need a true 6. We did look better with anyone on, though.

Spending 30m on next years backup keeper - who would presumably replace Ali when the time comes.

I like Gakpo for what he is, but I think you absolutely sell at that price in any other circumstance... We'll see if we bring anyone else in time to replace him...

Yeah, I was very skeptical of this signing last summer... He is a RWB, not a RB...
I was hoping that going forward.. he would at least offset some of his defensive deficiencies, but he really hasnt done enough there either...

Any word on when Connor Bradley is expected back? We’re gonna be seeing a lot of Dom at rb
Always thought we should try him out at rw. He plays there for Hungary and fits his style more. Unless he’s playing as a 10 he’s not great at cm

I mentioned it earlier, but I would play him as a RAM with our current players..
He is too valuable to be a squad player and kind of a waste at RB, though he is probably the best option of currently available players..
He doesnt have the discipline to sit in a midfield 2, but I can't blame him too much as it goes against how he has played his whole career..
For fricks sake, sign a holding mid!
Bradley is definitely an improvement over Frimpong, but I still think that position needs to be upgraded... Perhaps Gomez can provide some minutes there when he is back, but you can't really rely on him to stay fit..

Wish him the best. Have always had a soft spot for him, shame he was in the squad when Salah was at his peak therefore could never really play his true position. Villa totally fricked his career last season

No one should have expected a 6. We just aren’t having one. Maybe we will change tactics if we keep getting exposed but that clearly wasn’t in the cards.
Can’t say it was a terrible window but it sure was a puzzling one. We have done little to address most of our needs.

I completely agree. RB is a huge hole for us right now. I'm extremely disappointed that we didn't secure a RB, but maybe that can be solved in January along with a defensive minded CM. I'm not a huge Kerkez fan, but hopefully Iraola can unlock him. While I'm disappointed, I'm still optimistic because I feel we are in better shape than last season.
