Is this team better without Stevie G?

No, not necessarily. But it is better when there is a dependable rotation in the middle, keeping guys fresh. That is what I think.

I didn't think so either. One result doesn't say yes. Albeit, an impressive one.

Yeah I agree. Encouraging stuff from Hendo though. He may be the heir apparent after all.

Yep. Consistent play is the key to replacing a true Legend. We shall see.

Gerrard is worth having in the XI for his free kicks alone. No joke. How many guys took set pieces for us? I think fricking Flanagan took a corner at one point.

Side note: does anyone know why Luis wears that wrist tape? He has worn that as long as I can remember.

I thought it was because he did hurt it, but the next match he did really well and from then on he kept on wearing it.

I still believe that Gerrard deserves a spot in the lineup... I think an upgrade at the DM spot will allow him to play on...

Hendo and Allen's young legs and pressing, covered that up and then later, Paulinho being sent off helped...

Next year will be interesting... Hendo and Allen played like players worthy of their price tags, Stevie wont be able to play every game (when healthy) in my mind... especially, coming off of a WC summer...

As we make the turn and head for the last half of the December(+1) Death March, just wanted to take a second to look back on some of out results, and possibly revise the predictions going forward.
quote:

Dec. 1 Hull (A)
Dec. 4 Norwich (H)
Dec. 7 West Ham (H)

I think it is imperative that we get 9 points off this 1st group. If we don't it could be a long miserable month sliding down the table.

Well, it is hard to imagine after starting off losing to Hull 3-1 that we would run off wins of 5-1, 4-1, and 5-0. We didn't get the 9 points off the first group like I had hoped, but I was extremely impressed with the resolve the team has shown in the face of mounting injuries.

Previous Prediction 9. Actual Results 6. Cumulative Net (-3)
quote:

Dec. 15 Spurs (A)
Dec. 21 Cardiff (H)

Obviously I would love to take 6 off these 2 games but I think 4 would leave us in a strong position for the final kick.

Time for the first revision. After the complete thrashing of Spuds, I will be disappointed with anything less than 6 points. A win at home this Saturday over Cardiff and we are back to one point off the pace.

Previous Prediction. 4 New Prediction 6. Net (+2)
quote:

Dec. 26 Man City (A)
Dec. 29 Chelsea (A)
Jan. 1 Hull (H)

The home stretch will be brutal. Not looking forward to this at all. Anything over 3 points will be a fantastic effort after the previous 5 games. I am worried though that we could enter this stretch nicked up or dead on our feet and close with 1 point out of these three.

Feeling cautiously optimistic about this stretch. I think we will get a result off of either Citeh or Chelsea. All I want this Christmas is for Suarez to give Joe Hart nightmares for the next 6 months after netting a brace and to follow it up by ending the Mourinho win streak at the Bridge. Once the heavy lifting is done, time to take our revenge on Hull.

Previous Prediction 3. New Prediction 4-6. Net (+1-3)

Season Forecast: Shore up team in the January window and gather up these signs and send them east.

If we don't get 3 points against Cardiff at Anfield, I will probably kill myself.

Agreed. I don't want to get overconfident or get my expectations up, but I can definitely see us getting a draw out of one of those (likely Chelsea). But agree we have to take both home matches against Hull and Cardiff

Looks like they will be without Aguero, Nastasic, Richards and Zabaleta appears to have fricked his hammy today... 3rd string RB... Cou could have a big day!

Would have been nice if it had happened a week earlier. Oh and if the refs hadn't fricked up four offsides calls that weren't actually offsides.

I would say Liverpool is the team without Americans that I cheer most for after Arsenal in the EPL. I love the way y'all play when y'all are really on. Love Suarez, which makes me a pariah amongst non Liverpool fans so I usually keep my mouth shut. I would love to see us both finish in the top 4.
