Created a bunch of chances. Still need to finish them off. Looked goof today though. Besides Coates's goof in the back defense looked solid. Agger looks good coming back from injury.

I was reading that Coates was exceptional in the 2nd half. Beast in the air, too...

Well what we took away from today:

1.) *knock on wood* heaven forbid Suarez gets injured because we would be in trouble.
2.) Coates was a bit shaky with the goal. How will he pan out?

Thoughts on the match?

Apart from Coates completely forgetting how to play a ball in the air for a moment, the match wasn't even close. The first half was exactly what we've seen this year in almost every match. Dominate possession, create opportunities, waste opportunities, allow goal on only real chance from opposition, shake head and curse. The second half was a different story.

Coates continued to play lights out (he should've been awarded a PK for getting pulled down in the box...and it's a shame that we didn't get to see him try to finish because it could have possibly outdone Luis' bender).

Bellamy came on and almost immediately found the frame, of course, on a low strike...I liked his sub and I think he's going to have to play the role of the scoring poacher we're missing at least until Jan.

Carroll had an impressive match, not in the striker role, but in the middle third passing, maintaining possession, and winning several balls.

Agger looks to be almost all the way back, if not completely fit, which is a necessity because Carra seems to be showing his age more often than not. As poorly as Coates played that ball along the touch line, Stoke still had to execute a cross and header in front of Carra against which he looked utterly helpless.

Overall, the team played really well in a very difficult environment against a frustrating opponent. Did anybody notice they shrunk the pitch for this match? You could easily see where they moved the touch line and the goal in several feet from their PL dimensions. Silly Stoke, tricks are for kids. It's about time that we won a game that we dominated.

Loved the game. Great showing. Lets hope it can translate to the Premiership pitch.

We really need a Dzeko type striker in January.

There aren't that many around. Llorente would be the choice IMO.

announcer has a fricking fit over the pen (which was a pen) and then doesn't say shite on the clear handball on a goal chance. Or when Carroll got creamed in the box.

What a dick
