Not surprising. FSG are cleaning house.

@OliverKayTimes: Some suggesting #LFC picked a good day to bury bad news under England squad selection. Tomorrow back pages will suggest otherwise

I'll take the field. I'm thinking the next manager comes from somewhere on the continent, most likely France or Italy. Maybe Portugal.

Clarke is gone too according to Tony Barret of the Times.
#cleaninghouse#
eta: apparently Clarke resigned out of loyalty to the King.

Betting on AVB was 2-1 to become LFC manager. It's now suspended. Looks like he's the heavy favorite.

Wow look like he is set to be appointed.

There is no over reaction going on any of the Liverpool boards right now, none.

I don't know what to make of any of this right now.
Right now, it looks to be a 4 man race.
AVB
Rafa
Martinez
Rodgers
I'm open to AVB. But I know he will need time and money. I can accept that.
I'm on the fence with Rafa. Seems like this is the time to move forward, not backwards. Rafa did some great things for the club (2 CL finals appearances, 1 FA Cup, 2nd in the league), but part of me feels that both parties just need to move on. He did bring in some tremendous talent to the first team and academy though. Right now, I would say he is my second choice.
I don't want Martinez or Rodgers. I don't think either are ready.
I really don't like any of the names on the list particularly.

I'm so anxious and excited right now. I wanted another year for Kenny, but he didn't get one. Time to move on and start looking forward to next season.

I feel like you read to much into speculation
Nobody really knows the interview process that's going on and no one will know for sure until theyve made a final decision and extended an offer to a manager. All you can do is wait out the speculation until something solid comes out. There's gonna be a new story and a new favorite every other day though that's just how it goes.

@alitweedale: Bitchy. RT @Fourth_Official: Quite amusing that John Henry has unfollowed Kenny Dalglish on Twitter after sacking him.

I'm just the opposite. I have Rafa as my first choice, but I could definitely get behind an AVB hiring.

And I agree with this, I think both of these names are setting the bar too low.

I would have Klopp as my first choice...
But i can get behind AVB (I kinda wanted him when we appointed KK full time)
I also could get behind Rafa and he seems the no brainer, in what I see as a very important decision. This will make or break us for the foreseeable future. Part of me agrees with the other poster who had the sentiment of "been there done that" with Rafa...

I would too. I hope they can put together an impressive package for him that might tempt him. He will say no though.

Would probably be a good choice. Hopefully he learned a lot at Chelsea, he should have.

I agree with this. I normally don't think going back is a good idea but I think given how the circumstances have changed (new owners) since Rafa left it actually makes sense.
Its definitely a risk though and I also agree with the make you or break you part. If things go for Rafa how they went for Kenny during his season and a half LFC are really gonna be set back. Ya'll are one bad season away from completing the transition from champions league regulars to top 10 regulars.
With Financial Fair Play coming into effect and the limited matchday revenue because of the restrictions of Anfield if they continue to spend like they did under Kenny and results don't change it could really continue to get worse.

a painful, if not slightly amusing commentary on the past season-
last night I was an AR on a youth match. One of the coaches is British. Early in the first half, one of his players lines up a shot from about 15 yards out and blasts the ball about 10 yard high and about 15 yards wide. The ugliness of the shot is actually hard to describe. It was an absolute shank with no defenders really pressuring the kid and no discernible reason why the shot was not put on frame. From behind me I think hear the British coach mumble, "Christ. He pulled a Downing." I asked him about it after the match, and he just laughed and confirmed that I heard him correctly.

Well, I was just considering the realistic options hahaha. I agree with Klopp if we can just pick anyone.

Personally, I don't get this sentiment. I think a lot of it stems from the fact that we brought back a former manager in Dalglish and it was unsuccessful. But Rafa had us at the top of the game within the last decade. People complain that KK was tactically outdated and that he didn't have a good grasp of modern football. But that argument doesn't hold water when considering Benitez. The two aren't comparable IMO.

I guess if it's a "new dawn" so to speak, I'd rather start fresh... But trust me, I would have no problem getting behind Rafa if that was FSG's choice... I'm ready for all the complaining about zonal marking on set pieces again
