Whelan has confirmed he has given FSG permission to talk to Martinez
Dont want to jump the gun, he looks like a promising young manager, but we need someone whose track record is greater than keeping Wigan from being relegated...

I agree. I don't want to get stuck with another Woy.

Speaking as an outsider in this, that has been my whole point. Martinez is a good guy, but other than a few escape acts he really hasn't proven much of anything.

Still convinced that wasn't all on him. At the end of the day, the team played about as well for Roy as they did for Kenny.

When Kenny took over they were in like 16th place

I'd argue if I cared enough about LFC to do it. I'm still bitter about Roy leaving Fulham for a club that had no desire to play for him.

Rumor is we have a DOF in place. The name hasn't come out yet though.

A lot of twitter reports claiming Jen Chang (of SI) is the new Director of Communications.
Would make sense because he has been noticeably quiet on twitter the past few days...
THE ANFIELD WRAP ?@TheAnfieldWrap
Congratulations to @JenChang88 on his new job as director of communications of Liverpool Football Club.

Looks like it's Txiki Begiristain.
I don't know much about him. Looks like his transfer record was spotty though. He was the one in charge of the Eto'o/Ibrahimovic swap. Also brought in guys like Alves, Villa and Henry.
I would be interested to see what Dandy thinks of him.

Why haven't I heard David Moyes mentioned for the Liverpool managerial role. I think he would be excellent with money to spend.

Probably the same reason SAF isn't being considered..

Liverpool have ended higher than Everton in 8 of 10 seasons since Moyes joined Everton. 3 of the last 6 years Liverpool have only ended higher by 1 place, and have likely spent a ton more. I think Liverpool could afford to pay him a lot more than Everton and give him a lot more to spend, which may allow him to prove himself in the Champions League.
Comparing him to SAF and Manchester is being a bit sarcastic. Hell, I honestly think when SAF retires Manchester will be all over Moyes as his replacement.
2011 - 7th /// Liverpool 8th
2010 - 7th /// Liverpool 6th
2009 - 8th /// Liverpool 7th
2008 - 5th /// Liverpool 2nd

2004 - 4th /// Liverpool 5th
2003 - 17th /// Liverpool 4th
2002 - 7th /// Liverpool 5th

Maybe to an American. Pretty sure if he became Liverpool's manager, the city would implode on itself. The rivalry between the clubs would never let it happen.

Are you kidding?
Everton used to be a great club, but they are far from it now. Their budget is a fraction of Manchester United. Moyes may have done an amazing job with no money, but he hardly has the resume of SAF. For an "American" it seems like a sarcastic comparison. Money talks and bullshite walks in football, and last time I checked Moyes didn't grow up an Everton supporter (and likely made less than Houllier, Rafa, Hodgson, and Dalglish).
It may take a TON of money, but if Liverpool want him bad enough, I think they could prize him away.

He's talking about the rivalry, not many cross stanley park either way...

Yep. I assumed that was why he compared SAF to Moyes. Clearly they're not on the same level as far as winning trophys go.
Moyes is a great manager but with the amount of pressure that the next Pool manager is going to be under I don't think a manager from a local rival is who you should be looking for. If the team struggles (as they have under the last 2 managers) the fans would turn on him almost immediately.

You are missing the point. Players and managers don't "cross the park" anymore. Only 2 players since 2002 have made the switch, and there were 0 for 40 years before that. Only 1 manager has ever made the switch and that was in the 1800s. Being the manager of Everton immediately rules you out from ever getting the Liverpool job. Same with Man Utd. Hence the comparison to SAF.

His life would be in danger just for leaving Everton. That isn't a joke.
