i just want us to be able to compete vs. the big teams (which, for the most part we are) and to dominate lesser competition on a consistent basis (which we are not)... we do that, we are top 4, possible challenging for the Premiership, on a yearly basis.... then we become a prized landing spot for the best of the best, rather than having to overspend for guys ala Man City and Man United.... just sayin', success breeds success, and the longer we allow this club to stray from being a main player in England, the harder it will become for us to get back to where we should be....
that's basically what i'm trying to convey.... nothing more, nothing less....

Damn. Stats dont lie. You got to wonder whether he has seen that stat line or not. If he has, I bet he is very nervous.
He really has done nothing for the club, save for a handful of decent passes. Really disappointing.

The other day I posted something about a possible bust up between Bellamy and the club. Looks to be a BS rumor.
Sky Sports is just reporting an injury. They say he wont be available tomorrow because of a "niggle."

IMO he was the reason Blackpool went down last season. He always seems to be the deepest sitting midfielder in the formation but he plays no defense and is always caught up field which is a huge problem given his complete lack of recovery speed. Of course he was also the reason Blackpool almost stayed up last season

Good read. Transforming a struggling club clearly on the decline (last 5 years) to a top 4 contender takes time. It has been pointed out before on this board that the Man City transformation was not overnight. It has taken years of investment to finally see the results.

well, it was only at the end of '09 that we finished with 86 points and blew the EPL.... same year we mauled Real Madrid 4-0 in UCL... and turned around and fricked up United 4-1 the next week...
The sale of Alonso, Mascherano & Torres' injuries and subsequent dip in form/sale killed us... its amazing how far we fell in those 2 years, but we lost most of our backbone

By the way, wasnt trying to argue against you... just kills me to remember it wasnt that long ago when we thought we were maybe one wide player and LB away from winning some major trophies

You're absolutely right! 5 years is an inaccurate exaggeration on my part. In reality the downfall is much more recent.

I don't, but he never got the run of games Adam has... oh well, another transfer bust in the sense that we bought him for close to 20mm and will sell for around 6

You know if you think about it they shipped Aquilani out to make room for Adam and Henderson in the midfield. When you add up the 15 million pound loss on aquilani and the 25 million spent on those 2 it really is shocking business. I guess you can make the argument the Henderson is still very young and should improve but still y'all lost a lot of money and downgraded your midfield at the same time.

Hodgson actually shipped out Aqua the season before (Juve loan)... I have no issue with Henderson, I think he will be a fine player when he eventually moves to CM...
