They don't have the money

In 2020 they set aside 260 million euros just in the case that he left Barcelona, with their Chinese backing they will find cash.

He's getting close to MLS age. Not even a joke post tbh.

The Chinese company that owns them was so strapped for cash this spring, they closed operations on their domestic club who were champions, and sold off shares to state-owned holding companies. They already sold Hakimi to PSG, and are about to sell Lukaku to Chelsea.

That cash isn't there.

Seems like a publicity stunt from barca to put pressure on la liga to bend some rules

I just can’t see them being like:

Hey guys, welp. We tried. Boo-boopdy-do. TYFYS Leo

They’ll have this sorted by tomorrow

True, the hyperbole is so ridiculous though. It’s the 4th or 5th best league in the world, not MLS

Well I apologize for saying Ligue Un is a shite league. Too Strong. Great talent in that league. That said, it is the 5th best league of the Big 5:

Premier League
La Liga
Bundesliga
Serie A
Ligue Un

It is no place for a truly all time great to play in the last few years of his historic prime. An 18 to 21ish year old Messi, sure. A 34 year old, no thanks. He still has a ton left in the tank. A swan song in the Premier League would be electric.

I don't know the financial workings of the Bund but could Red Bull put all their shitty energy drink money to work here and try to land him?

We already saw the perfection of tiki taka with the likes of Joe Allen and Leon Britton. This would look like a bad imitation of that with Leo sadly

Ah I see now I didn't know about their recent money problems just read about it. Sucks they had some talent on that squad and have a champions league spot as well.

I think it would be hilarious if he ended up in the MLS.
