what's also annoying is that when you disagree with a coach's choice, all you get in response is, "well surely you know better than the fricking head coach/manager!!!"

I don't defend this argument, because its point is to totally invalidate the opposing POV. That said, Jurgen knows more than we possibly could... about every. single. player. Hours and hours and hours scouted on film, in person, in camp. He's way more informed than we ever could be, and that's a legitimate point.

Except that much of this doesn't seem to do with the soccer element. That's why many people, like myself, are upset. It seems very personal and ego driven. When your goalkeeper comes out less than a week ago and says Donovan is your best or second to best player, then he gets cut...seems like there is a lot more to be seen.

Throw in the fact that basically everyone actually knows Brad Davis is not better than Landon Donovan. He has a good left-foot deliver...joy. We aren't a deep country, our best players need to be there, and everyone should realize Donovan is still one of the best 23 available.

It's crazy to me that people can't comprehend this.

I heard on the radio this morning that you can change it up to 24 hours before your first game, but you have to petition FIFA for it. Making a change due to injury would probably be approved.

And that is where we agree to disagree.

This is what this entire debate on Donovan boils down to...and that's okay.

all around.

I'm just ready for everybody on here to get focused on the 23 who are going to storm Brazil.

I get that but it's just so hard for me, as a fan, to wrap my mind around the fact that Brad Davis offers more to this team than Landon does. I do think it will work out in that not having Landon will not really effect the team's performance. We should know by now to trust in Jurgen. He's made some pretty questionable choices in personnel at times but its seems they like they've paid off so far be it luck or skill.

I think come kick off we'll all forget about the Landon hoopla and will just be focused on the team we have there.

I still think that Landon going off to Cambodia for 4 months really started a sour relationship with Klinsmann. Maybe if he went on loan that winter or stayed trained with the national team it might have gotten him a better chance of going to Brazil.

Preview of March to Brazil Episode 3

Here's a link to Jurgen addressing the team right after the final 23 were announced. Pretty crazy that that the room is almost silent and everybody is just sitting around kinda like what the frick?

Nothing wrong with hating the coach. This is an LSU board. Half of the fricking posters hate the coach, but would kill themselves for a national title.

Not an LSU fan, so this concept is foreign to me. I want coaches to bring my team wins. If they do so, I love them and want them to stay. If not, they can hit the road. Does this mentality come from being fans of individual players instead of teams?

I'm not saying you can't disagree with coach, manager, GM, chairman, etc. decisions, but some posters are calling for Jurgen's firing even if we were to WIN the World Cup. That's the most absurd thing besides a TN Bhoy post that I've read on here.

Interesting to see Yedlin almost as if he's looking around the room for someone, right?

It comes from a specific style, not just results. LSU can go 9-3, but 2 losses are to shitty teams then they beat others and play great. It can be infuriating. But you still want them to win.

I understand it completely. I still like Jurgy, he pissed me off but he's clearly taking us in the right direction. And I will always hope we win, never will hope we lose...never ever

But that's still speculative at best and doesn't in any way invalidate the point that

in situations like this i tend to defer to the person assessing the skill level on a daily basis and not the group speculation about ego.

Since this isn't the OT or Political Talk, I'll go ahead and write the next sentence although I am sure it will lead to some creative replies.

If a political operative going by the pretend title of "Republican strategist" goes on a daytime news show and says global warming isn't real, and an expert in environmental science says there is scientific consensus that the other person is completely wrong, the correct takeaway from this situation is not that both parties are right in some ways and wrong in others.

If these are the kind of arguments that get posted to the Poli board. I should visit less often than I already do.

TURN ON ESPN NOW

They showing the announcement to the players themselves.

Edit: will be part of the next Inside: March to Brazil, but espn just showed a clip of what's to come with the announcement to the players that made the cut.

The question I have is:

IF a midfielder or forward get hurt, and JK calls up Donovan for the invite, does he even accept?
