If the defender is that Brazilian kid Rafael, it seems even more commonplace since he's seemingly always involved in stuff like this.

Yes Raffa fouled him, and the ref didn't call it so he dumped the little terd.
As for scoring goals, he has been open on the far post about 6-8 times this year only to have bad teamates take bad angled shots, it's no wonder he's frustrated.

It seems like y'all were watching a completely different game from most people.
TNBhoy is still an idiot.
This is the most reactionary thread I've ever seen. What a joke. Give him time god dammit. He plays on a shite team with no supporting cast, but manages to garner man of the match honors regardless (which he has multiple times this season). His hold up play is fantastic but he has no one making runs. His defensive work has improved. He's not getting a lot of looks on goal because Sunderland are fricking awful.
Sunderland fans are turning on him? He's a scapegoat for the bad season? They will stay up in spite of him? What recess deep in your gaping a-hole did you pull that one out of? He's the team's assist leader across all competitions. Sure he doesn't score a lot but before his most recent goal Steven Fletcher hadn't scored for 9 games. And Fletcher's had time to acclimate to the league and the team, I believe. Jozy, like Fletcher, is a good player. The supporting cast is not.

Jozy Altidore is not good enough for the BPL

What I do like about Jozy's game, however, is his hold up play. Dude is really good shielding defenders but half the time he just gives the ball right back to the other team with his sometimes erratic passes. I feel like he tries to play the 10 spot too much out there, trying to create for his teammates, but that's cuz service sucks on that team. He has a nice little partnership with Giaccherrini which is nice at times though.
He needs to get out. I don't think he's good enough for the Premiership. I would be nice to see him in the Bundesliga though.

So please do expand on why Jozy "is not good enough for the BPL." Barely give him half a season to prove himself. People had similar thoughts about Giroud last year but he adapted to the league and has been playing very well. I'm not sure why everyone freaks out and wants to jump ship asap.

You're right. I'm being harsh when I said that he isn't good enough for the BPL. He is good enough but something needs to happen asap. I really want this dude to succeed, I really really really do. How long will Sunderland give him though? Would suck if they just said F it and decided not to play him. Sunderland was a terrible choice. I wish a team like Aston Villa or Fulham would have gotten him instead.
Regardless. I agree about the adapting part but I would assume he'd be adapting at a faster rate than other players from abroad considering that he played at Hull City a while back.
With the Bundesliga thing, I really just think that he could go there and wreck shop. That's my only basis for that comment

This would be a bad move on their part, I assure you.
Drogba wasn't scoring buckets of goals at this age, and he was in a weaker league at the time with a better team. Give Jozy time. He will adapt, and hopefully Sunderland will get a little better. I think the goals will come.

He's been fricking injured most of his tenure with Sunderland. If Jozy had been injured all season, we'd better accept the time it takes to find form.

whats so bad about it? To me the other player backs into jozy, they get tangled and jozy kind of just pushes him to the ground. Nothing malicious in that. Not more so than slide tackling someone where you always have a chance at injuring yourself or someone.

Not his fault that he has to play like a midfielder to get the ball. Sunderland blows. They are bottom of the PL for a reason. At least he's contributing.

No one is saying he is "great" in terms of world class strikers, but to say he isn't EPL-caliber is just asinine on so many levels.
You cannot sit here and tell me that Jozy would be sitting on just one goal if he were playing for an EPL team that actually fielded a competent midfield.

Jozy isn't a great striker, sure, but calling him average? Come on. He scored a wonderful hat trick against a very solid Bosnia and Herzegovina team. I'm not sure why Jozy gets so much hate. He's a good striker, definitely better than average, and he has the potential to be a phenomenal striker, IMO.

Two good seasons at AZ, with his successor doing the exact same thing, if not better. One nice patch with the USMNT. The rest can be charitably described as average.

You are criminally shortchanging him. Between calling him a thug, average, etc., you've clearly never been a Jozy fan so your opinion on him really doesn't matter.

He's scored 58 goals in 172 club matches. That is not a good record. He has pretty much the same rate in the US kit.
