And somewhere in an alternate universe Jozy once again pulls a hammy in a World Cup game

Jozy has been an inspiration for young black people playing soccer, especially in the US.

I think he's done a lot of work for Haiti.

It’s just such a bizarre racial ‘straw man’ he constructs, seemingly out of nowhere. As far as I can tell Twellman has always kept his criticism pointed at the players failures on the pitch, and the organization.

It’s possible that there’s some behind the scenes issues between these two that made jozy snap irrationally, but I imagine it’s more that Altidore is just thin skinned and is still butthurt about Twellman calling all of them out for their World Cup qualifying failure.

Beasley should be that analyst

Is Beasley even in broadcasting?

And let's not forget TT retired in 2010 so he has been doing this for quite a while

He’s always seemed pretty sensitive on social media. Not at KD levels, but not far off. I get that to a certain extent (or how it would be tough as a public figure, anyway)

His idea of who an analyst should be is weird. Imagining a bizzaro world where the only two analysts for the past 40 years have been Maradona and Pele. It’s not like Twellman is some rando

I've never been a huge fan of Jozy. Seemed like he always had lots of potential but could never put it together, and often had trouble finishing.

His comments are childish. I don't like Twellman but it doesn't really matter what he said. I'm not sure what country Jozy grew up in, but I find it hard to believe his statement about how hard it is for black kids to succeed in soccer. What barriers is he referring to? The only thing I can see is possibly being made fun of by other black people. I've never once heard of any negative sentiment of black people playing soccer in the U.S.

He's got some weird sense of entitlement for someone who had, at best, an average career for the U.S. team.

This is the type of melt people have when they’re on the brink of irrelevance

Funny thing is I could see Jozy in punditry. He’s got the on air personality to do it

Twellman is slightly overreacting

That's his schtick, but no one else overreacts or even expresses negative emotions (maybe Alexi). Sucks that our stars are so coddled they can't take any negative criticism. Mental weakness explains how a lot about the last generation.

That's why I don't like it when he calls games. Everything he says sounds confrontational.

Agree completely, same with Alexi. Stubear is much better as a commentator.

Alexi is the GOAT for commentary. Is he more often negative than positive? Yes. Keep in mind that the there hasn’t been many positives about the USMNT since 2002.

That’s the other thing about altidore’s nonsense. Putting aside that twellman’s criticism was based on the team failing to qualify for the olympics, and that just happened lol, What positives have there been for the USMNT lately that pundits & commentators can go on about? The only thing I can think of is the talented youth coming through, and everybody always mentions that.

What are you talking about? He is third all time in scoring for the US team.

Look, I get that this board isn't the most welcoming to players talking about their issues with race and it gets people's panties in a bunch. I don't personally understand Jozy's experiences and he may be overblowing things, but thats not really my position to argue with him about. But to say his career was average at best is laughable regardless of his ranting on Twitter.

I was just as upset as everyone else was for the failure to qualify in 2017. Its a self-inflicted blight those guys will have to endure on their legacy. I can imagine guys are a bit tired of hearing about it though.

Think that’s pretty overly critical of Jozy. His bad take doesn’t mean he was an average player for us. When healthy, he had a very solid career. He was the only hold up striker we had for a long time and he was pretty dang solid at it.

It’s ok to find some sort of middle ground.

Jozy was a good player. His take here on Twellman is wrong.
