If it really is a sprain like Grant Wahl said, I'm not worried
Sprain doesn't mean much other than that it is tendon or (probably) ligament damage. It could be a stretch, partial tear, or even a complete tear(even though they would've said this if it was the case).

I just cant imagine JK saying "it doesn't look good" if it just looked like Stu would be out for a few weeks, given his history. Would be tone deaf.

Looks innocuous but I think I might see a bit of lateral movement with his knee. Hard to tell though.
yeah... on that stop on his right leg just before the collision w/ the Panamanian player... something just doesn't look right to me... but what do I know... I'm not a doctor... and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night

I don't know if it's a good thing that this is not the knee that he has had issues with in the past.

He walked off on his own.
I'm hoping this is a good sign but some players walk off and look fine after tearing ACLs.

It sucks we don't know what the situation is. We're all just fans and discussing it at length. I can't imagine what's going through Stu's head right now.

Maybe he is the anti-Sean Payton and is just trolling everyone. One can hope right???

It could be something like Fabian Johnson had recently.

It would be really irresponsible of Klinsmann to say something like that if it wasn't serious. This, combined with Holden having his face in his hands, is causing me to seriously worry.
Some people walk off ACL tears. For me I was on the ground screaming and needed to be carried off, essentially. There seems to be a lot of variation with these injuries.
In the gif I posted it looks like he jams his knee (...pretty bad? I'm not sure. Kind of looks rough, but I don't want to speculate too much). The MRI that he will obviously have tomorrow will tell us everything. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Also Hendo, dem socks

this is the first time i'm looking at the gif and it definitely buckles on its first impact

Actually hearing Klinsmann say the comments made me feel a little better. The tone of his voice was that he has no idea the severity of the injury and he is just fearing for the worst.
The fact that Stu jumped around a little bit during the trophy presentation is promising.

It also doesn't look like a big supportive brace that you would put on someone who's knee is unstable, so at the very least, there was some stability.
Also surprised there wasn't ice all over it for the rest of the day.
Right knee definitely has some movement on the first step of that gif.
I'm hoping its just a slight sprain. The harder part of this may be the mental for Stu - will he ever fully trust his knee again?

I just read that this knee hasn't actually been injured before. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse. If it's a fairly serious sprain (but not any kind of tear) of the knee that hasn't been injured before, isn't that better than if it was the other knee?

There's definitely some wiggle in that knee.
frick that.
frick that.
