Because golfers aren´t running to get to their shot first, or bashing people when balls are contiguous, or giving them a kick or a shove when they perform their stroke, or verbally accosting them, or tripping them after they shot (or when prideful after a great shot), or elbowing, or kneeing them in the testicles, or dragging them down to the ground by their shirt, or insulting their mother, ad infinitum.......

And that's the same reason why I don't understand why it isn't in the title.

Because some people here work and or live overseas so games have to be recorded. They may still stop by for a second to discuss the US game coming up or maybe to read an article on Qatar '22. Keeping scores out of the thread titles respects those people's viewing schedules and it's done knowing someone can just as easily find the score somewhere else if wanted.

Were all that going on in a golf match, I don´t think you´d want to vicariously know the score round by round, and definitely not hole by hole. You´d WANT to see it.

ETA You´d NEED to see it. There is no way you´d be satisfied knowing somebody is up by X strokes, or reduced the difference by X strokes, were this happening. Absolutely no way.

Exactly. I feel the same way. But I don't let knowing the outcome matter. I watch because I don't know the situation of each shot or how he executed it with the pressure, etc.

The outcome REALLY dampers the experience, but, when knowing, I also am curious to see each match situation, confrontations, opportunities, executions under pressure, coach reactions and implementations, etc... But, it´s not the same.

Soccer is very dynamic. Most sports are static, and those that aren´t, aren´t really big in the US (rugby, which still is quite static in comparison to soccer). Basketball in theory is dynamic. In theory. Hockey is not US American, it´s Canadian, and frankly for me, it´s a yawn. For me. I respect the sport and the talent of it´s players, immensely, but I find it tedious.

ETA Most team sports are static. Tennis is dynamic. Golf is not dynamic.

I don't see how this is unique to soccer. If one of my fav football, basketball, or baseball teams is playing and I'm at work and have to record it, I do all I can to avoid the score until I can watch the recording.

I´m referring to knowing the score before viewing.

The sports you mention, for me, don´t hold the same allure. Maybe UGA football, maybe.

Golfer, golf is not dynamic (according to my personal prism, I get where you´re coming from).

Tennis, shot by shot, there´s a positioning which is created or forced, and henceforth. Golf, it´s what one has done, that creates said position and need to respond/retaliate/overcome/take advantage of. It´s different, according to my lens. Not less admirable, in the least, just different.

Soccer should eliminate offsides if they ever want Americans to watch.

that's awful, eliminating the offside rule would change the game entirely causing a massive increase in offense and....um.... yeah, I guess i would watch that.

Well, most of the games I mentioned are more popular in America and games take place in primetime during the week or on weekends. With soccer, many matches take place before any normal person would get up on the weekends or they take place on weekday afternoons so a lot of people don't want the score posted so they can still read up on other soccer-related topics and be able to watch the game when they get home/get up.

Golf is very dynamic for far more reasons than you describe here.

Were there no offsides, all would congregate around the goal area of the side which didn´t kick off, and the defending side would hope to boot the ball long, and for someone to run under it and score. It would be a medieval spectacle.
