Serious question, only because I don't know, does watching soccer knowing the outcome diminish the viewing?
Because I could watch old golf tournaments or any golf tournament knowing the outcome and still appreciate the sport.

You cannot properly experience what is going on, especially when viewing great things from the losing side, as you already know it´s all for naught.

You can still appreciate it in the same way you can appreciate highlights on sportscenter after the game. If you know the outcome, it robs you of the experience of the game. It's ups and downs, twists and turns, it's struggles and triumphs. Knowing the outcome absolutely diminishes the viewing experience. You skip the ride, and go straight to the souvenir shop.

Same thing can be said about watching the final round of this weekend's US Open on tape delay knowing the winner and I still appreciate the achievement and the play?
And I know what the final score of the winner is but I have no clue how they got there or prevented their opponent from beating them. So the drama is still there.

I'm sure someone has said it already, but today could not have been better for those casual fans who like to complain about how soccer is played.
Neymar could have easily been red carded, but he is protected.
Croatia couldnt buy a call, because Brazil had to be protected.
A horrible penalty call on a blatant dive basically decides the outcome in favor of the tourney favorite and home team.

I work when a lot of these games are going on and cant watch on the computer when Im trying to fix a helicopter. So I avoid sites like espn etc/sports radio etc that might show a score. I DVR the games and watch when I get home not knowing the result.
Seeing the score before I got home from a post on here would piss me off and make me reluctant to watch. Would I watch, yes because I love the game, but I would be pissed. So have some common courtesy and abide by the rules of this board.

All we can do is assure you that it does ruin the enjoyment of watching a match. If I tape a match, I spend all day avoiding anything that could possibly tell me the score. It would be annoying if I clicked on the soccer board, out of habit, and saw the score in the thread title. This is not to mention the fact that the score is never put into the title of any match thread on any soccer forum.

Yes you could still do that, and if you enjoy it just the same then that's great as long as you can respect that others may not share your opinion on the matter. That's all this really boils down to is respecting differences. You don't have to like or agree with the way things are done here so long as you can respect it. Do that, and it's all gravy. You may find that the SB is quite accommodating to new folks and those curious about the game.
