So when they pan over to OUR team during the world cup and one of the players is actively dissenting to the National Anthem, you will be an opinionless void?

inclined to be on the side if it being respectful... I hate (and I mean hate) using this example, but it's a sign of respect in the church even in modern times.

I have never knelt in church. I guess some people kneel when they pray. Not something I’ve personally experienced, but I see what you mean.

My question is, if Kaepernick or Rapinoe had just knelt during the anthem without giving a reason before hand, would anyone even have noticed?

No one would have even noticed Kaep not standing.

It would obviously be very noticeable that something was going on if Rapinoe has done it randomly.

The church I grew up in would kneel for communion.

I'm not saying she's right, but if she feels they aren't getting what they deserve or are being discriminated against, then why shouldn't she protest?

Because that's not why we all stand for the national anthem. It's not a question of "Should I stand if I have any axes to grind with some politicians or government entities?" You stand if you support what America stands for and what it strives to be.

Our anthem blows

There are several anthems that deal with war but ours is a about hope not vengeance.

I'm surprised France hasn't banner theirs in their PC culture.

Ever read the lyrics? They would consider it vile, racist, nationalistic and xenophobic.

In my ideal world they would be called the US Men’s and Women’s Nationalist Teams and they would beat commies on the field and post Pinochet memes on Twitter.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the actual music... Google it, it's not well written

Yeah. It's not really the words. It's just an awkward piece of music that is hard to sing correctly.

Yep, I watched a YouTube video about that, I hadn't really thought about until I watched it, now I can't not think about it

She's so full of shite. She is doing all this for attention. If she really cared about her "cause" then she wouldn't play for the national team

Yep, like the female ballon d'or winner who's sitting out for Norway. I don't agree with her, but she's putting her money where her mouth is.

Most of you guys are limp wristed homos but pvilleguru is probably the person I would get along with least. I can't remember a single post he's made sharing an opinion I haven't completely disagreed with.

CSB TLDR, I'm awesome and pvilleguru sucks and is a terrible ref

PS: Rapinoe sucks, Sue Bird could do much better

Is her gripe with FIFA or with Norway? I know she wasn't pleased with being asked if she could twerk as she accepted her award.

Just want to make sure I’ve got this correct:

You’re not rooting for /supporting the USA because someone doesn’t respect our National Anthem?

In 2017, Ada Hegerberg quit the Norwegian national team, which had just been knocked out of the Euros without scoring a goal. Hegerberg didn’t like how women’s soccer was treated in her home country, so she wanted to make a statement. Not long after Hegerberg stepped away from the team, Norway signed an historic equal pay agreement, with the men’s national team taking a pay cut to give the women a pay raise. But this deal wasn’t enough to appease Hegerberg, who has remained apart from the team since 2017.

After reading this I’m honestly not sure what she wants. She got equal pay and still is refusing to play.

I did some digging on reddit and the answer I saw the most is that her and the FA do not see eye-to-eye on how the team prepares, or how whomever the manager(s) have set up.

It was also mentioned a few times, and these are just comments from Norwegians on the sub, that her achievements made her very vocal in regards to how she thought things should be going behind the scenes and the FA and manager did not agree with her on the ideas she brought forth.

Now she has not made her concerns public and neither have the FA but they are obviously at a pretty big stalemate.

It sounds to me like she basically wants to run the federation and expects them to listen and back her because of how good she is/has been. Obviously I have no idea, just my conclusion.
