Definitely worth the read.

Los Angeles and Toronto were also interested in ponying up for Dempsey, multiple sources said, but Toronto (which is working on its own Designated Player deals) accepted that it was better for the league if Dempsey were playing in a U.S. city.
That is very cool.

Weird that Toronto was in the cards. I guess they are tired of sucking.

But he also wants other MLS owners to step up to the plate. At one Board of Governors meeting, he told his brethren that someone needs to sign Mexican star Javier (Chicharito) Hernández sooner rather than later.
You're on the clock Chivas USA

That would be amazing (if he came to MLS)

When do we expect JK to weigh in on this officially?

What's more, there is a stipulation in the contract that Dempsey is allowed to go on one off-season loan to a European club during the length of the deal. (Thierry Henry, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane have gone on similar loans.) It's expected that Dempsey will do that in January and February 2014 to help prepare for the World Cup.
Hope he finds a champions' league team since that's been one of the main gripes

It would be pretty cool and a bit ironic to see him get a shot at the Champions League by coming back to MLS.

Obviously, it would have sucked for the league and its parity, but I think Donovan and Dempsey playing on the same team would have been huge for the USMNT's chemistry heading into the WC.

I thought I wanted that too, but seeing Donovan and Dempsey playing against each other is going to be too fun to pass up.

despite sucking, their fanbase tends to stay involved. all things are equal in MLS except for Stadium revenue, TFC has that.
I read an article yesterday, can't remember where, that mentioned Jurgen being extremely upset with Dempsey's return.

I don't think extremely upset is the right word. I think disappointed is a better characterization.
Dempsey has a clause that allows him to go out on loan to a European team, so we might see him do this in the winter. I say Arsenal

Send him to Roma to get some time with Bradley, or Sunderland with Jozy.

For someone who often talks about how important the MLS is for the USMNT, he shouldn't be too disappointed. If you want the MLS to take off you're gonna need your stars to come back home before there just washed up.

I don't think it has anything to do with that, rather, it's one of his best players (and possible captain) moving back to the states right before the World Cup when he could have found another team in Europe.

I like this move for a few reasons. I'm glad that he and GAM, who seem to be the best of friends, can play together again. It's ne'er a bad thing when people are enjoying their football. I also like the consistent PT he will get and an off season loan was always in the cards. He's done developing and it's important to make enough money for your family later in your career.
