Well. Get ready for more than 50 minute (real time) halves. Fortunately that'll never happen.

No time would be added.

clock keeps going and a public time is kept when the game stops (injury, out of bounds...goal scored, etc)

This could also work well.

There is an edit because I realized how you'd interpret that.

that's basically what the ref does. he just does it in secret and then calls the game based on his secret math

this would just be a public version of that, essentially

Lol you don't have to look that far back. Argentina got hosed in Germany in 2006. Who were they playing? Germany.

Argentina also won a world cup where their best player literally punched a ball in the goal with his hand....cry me a river

I don't see the big deal. Other sports allow their players to use their hands. Soccer should do their rules like other sports.

Yep. And then you could have someone overseeing it. Just like in CFB how the "official" time is kept on the field by a side judge but the clock operator is also cognizant of the game play.

in 2002 when we were shocking the world, late in our game against germany, a german defender committed one of the most obvious handballs ever to stop a goal (that would have tied it, iirc). should have been a red + a PK. did it happen? to quote a pic i posted earlier (that somebody said had no meaning), "nope"

Well frick

That's a disingenuous conclusion to take from SFP's last post. Having a running tally of stoppage time that accumulates on screen and is then counted down from once that time period begins would do nothing to change the rules of soccer. The only thing it would do is provide information to the audience watching the game. It makes the game even more viewer friendly and informative.

Why is that a bad thing?

Not saying this about you, but I am getting really worried about the ability of some people to do basic addition on this board.

there were what? 2 subs that 2nd half. that alone = 1 min. then all the corners, witsel's injury, etc (was jones's injury in the 2nd OT?)

2 minutes, min. we were debating if we'd get 2.5 minutes at my house

Green was in the first period. Chadli was the second period. Jones's injury was in the second period.

If you asked me, I would have given us 1:30 or so.

This was honestly the best reffed US game I have ever watched.
