Oh yeah Freese’s frick up was massive, but that was another chance for Ream to cover his teammates that he failed on.
That ball passed within a foot of him and it wasn’t moving particularly fast. He has to find a way to get a touch on it.

Agreed. The way the 2nd half started, it felt like the equalizer was coming eventually.
I can't say I was necessarily confident about winning still, but I thought we were at least going to go out on our shield like Mexico did.

If Trump could have kept his mouth shut instead of bragging about it we would have been better off. Of course he has to take credit for everything. It made us look like we were getting preferential treatment and basically rallied the world against us. I posted yesterday that I thought it was bs and got attacked of course and told I was not American. The Belgians literally did the Trump dance on our grave.

That wasn't it at all. The Belgians were in full out assault mode. I knew it would be a long night with the first goal at 9 minutes. The Belgians scored easily. They were prepared for our defense . Early on they took advantage of Freeman. First two goals started out on Freeman's side. On the first goal he looked lost as the wing got the ball and then maneuvered to the goal and placed a cross kick right where it needed to be.

He did get a touch on it as it more or less came right to him, but just tried to flick it or something and redirected it into the corner of the goal instead of the middle. He absolutely has to make that play.

100% it hurt.
It motivated and put Belgium on a united front. They came out aggressive.
There was a natural relief for the us players that our best attacking threat would play. We didn’t look up for the battle at all.
Fact is - Belgium looked up for it. We didn’t. And it’s hard to not believe Flos reinstatement wasn’t a big part of that.

You aren’t sure why?! Lol it’s pretty obvious why the US lost. Europe plays a more physical brand of soccer and the US plays a more finesse style. The game was over before it started for that very simple reason and it’s the same reason we have always struggled against European opponents. They were more physical at every level, CP couldn’t get a shot off and we had less than 5 legitimate shots on goal. It had absolutely nothing to do with the red card

Not sure, but it definitely pissed off the Belgians. I know they were bitchy about it leading up to the game, but when the ball was kicked off their players played with a "frick all of you" attitude for 90 straight minutes. Well done by them.

As we have gotten more technically proficient with our player pool over the last ten years we’ve lost a lot of the physicality and size of those 2002-2014 US team.
The elite European teams have the technical ability but combine it with a lot of more size.

.....and they had the game in hand before those guys ever hit the pitch. Belgian coach did his homework.
