This is true. But they are one pen shootout with trading places with Italy. Also if Germany wasn't robbed in '66 they'd be tied. Also 2002 was a sham of a WC. They have incredible individual talent and are the kings of football with Italy and Germany but the way every announcer fawns over them you'd think they have 10 and alone at the top.

That’s a whole lotta ifs and buts

They haven't haven't really impressed me in over 20 years. I'd like to see better.

Don't mind me I'm just speaking my mind. They may go on to win this whole thing but I'm just frustrated with this current team.

A lot of qualifiers here. My favorite though is calling the 2002 WC a sham while not even referencing that Germany won one World Cup by playing 6 total matches

And for the record, so did Brazil, but calling the 2002 World Cup a sham is a take. Brazil was pretty clearly the best team in the world at the time.

So is your argument that Brazil wouldn't have won if it was a clean cup?

Hate to break it to you bud, but if you really want to go down the rabbit hole, pretty much every World Cup has some dirt and grim.

I remember that tournament well. Italy went through some shite, and Spain’s loss to Korea was controversial, to say the least. But outside the first game against Turkey, there was no controversy about Brazil. That team was glorious.

Some of the shite is legitimately hilarious. Just a few anecdotes that stand out:

In the first World Cup, Uruguay scored after a referee passed a ball (that was out of bounds) to a striker.

In another game in 1930, France lost 1-0 when the final whistle was blown 6 minutes early, while they were on a breakaway.

In the second World Cup, Mussolini was allowed to choose favorable referee’s for Italy’s games. Safe to say they won the tournament.

Yeah, I was living in Spain at the time and the Spaniards were laughing about the robbery in the Italy game mostly because they didn't want to play them. They weren't laughing so much after they got the treatment.

Brazil has always got the Bama treatment in CONMEBOL qualifiers. It’s been laughable. Having said that, it’s toned down a ton over the last few years.

Both Italy and Spain got bent over in Korea 2002. Ironically, they would go on the win the next two World Cups.

Shaffelburg is the biggest bitch I've seen in soccer in a long, long time. He's Neymar level bad without 1/10th the talent.

Argentina looked pretty good that half. Just need to take advantage of that space Peru keeps giving us right outside the box.

Clean up the passing in the midfield and we should score 2 goals in the second half.
