Haiti just scored the most hilarious own goal I've ever seen.

Canada has basically advanced now.

The final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying is set!

Mexico
United States
Jamaica
Costa Rica
Honduras
El Salvador
Canada
Panama

#USMNT opens with three September games: at El Salvador, vs Canada, at Honduras.

We pretty much have to get 9 points in September, 7 points at the absolute worst.

Y'all are chugging some delicious delusion tea if you think it's gonna be easy to take points at Honduras or El Salvador.

Honduras is 5-3-1 in home qualifiers against Mexico, Costa Rica & the U.S. in the past three cycles. The one loss was in 2009 to the U.S.

El Salvador's sample size is smaller for various reaons but again, they've lost a home Hex qualifier to MEX, CRC or the USA exactly ONE TIME in the past 30 years, to Mexico in 1997. They're 4-2-1 in that stretch.

Gonna be tough.

Sorry, scuffed needs to shut the frick up.

To take that next step, we should expect to win road qualifiers not in Azteca and Saprissa.

It's still a young team and these places are tough to play at. The road to qualifying, for every CONCACAF team, has been to win at home and steal points on the road.

Nope, after the last cycle, we need to make a statement and set the tone in that first 3 game window.

Stop making concessions for this team. Mexico last cycle went 2-1-2 in the road with that last loss coming in the last game after they qualified.

El Salvador is going to be the easiest road qualifier we have. 3 points should be expected.

If we don’t beat El Salvador’s arse on the road - something is wrong. They are terrible.

That own goal by Haiti almost looks suspicious for match fixing, it was so comical.

The goalkeeper responsible was born in Montreal, funnily enough. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

And yeah, we need to assert ourselves this qualifying cycle and get 3 points on the road more often against the Central American teams. No more of these bullshite losses. I don’t expect it to be easy with CONCACAF nonsense, nor do I expect wins at Saprissa or Azteca, but take care of business against the rest.

I’ll be interested to see how we handle the squad rotation, especially for the 3-match windows. Luckily, we finally have good midfield depth (barring injuries) to handle that challenge.

Their wins were @ us and T&T.

For 2014, their only win was @ Jamaica (2 losses, 2 draws).

For 2010, their only win was @ Costa Rica (3 losses, 1 draw).

For 2006, they won @ Costa Rica and Guatemala (2 losses, 1 draw).

For 2002, their only win was @ Jamaica (2 losses, 2 draws).

For 1998, their only win was @ El Salvador (4 draws).

I'm just saying that winning on the road in the final round of qualifying is hard and even Mexico has a really tough time with it. Obviously try to get wins, but draws are often more than acceptable as long as you're getting wins at home.

6 or 7 points after the first window will still have us on a great path.

We've never won more than 2 road games in the final round of qualifying.

Yeah I mean we couldn't even beat T&T.. I'd be happy with 2 wins and a draw from those opening 3 matches.

That Honduras game is going to be really tough. Have to play on a shitty field in El Salvador on Sep 2, likely play in Florida on Sept 5 vs Canada, then go play on a shitty field in Honduras on Sept 8. Going W-W-D over that stretch would be a massive win.

It's gonna be balls hot in El Salvador. I remember we opened qualifying one year against them and the players were melting on the pitch . I think Razov scored a goal and we walked out with a draw.

Beating a dead horse but a better gaffer and we'd get maximum points in most of the away matches sans Azteca and Ricardo Saprissa with the talent we have. Unfortunately I see the usual shithouse road matches where we will be fortunate to rescue a draw against Honduras and Jamaica.

Isn't this the 'clown 3rd world country' which allowed the dirt bike hoodlums to 'hold up' the visitors bus ?
