Can someone explain the red card for covering your mouth while talking?

Saw a Twitter post where a Paraguay guy got kicked out of the game covering his mouth and he said about 20 seconds worth of words it looked like.
What’s the rule supposed to address?

Paraguay's Miguel Almirón got sent off for a red card late in the first half for covering his mouth while saying something to a Turkish opponent following a scuffle. This invoked the "Vini Jr. Rule" that FIFA issued after a Champions League Match in February in which the Brazilian Real Madrid forward said he was targeted with a racist slur.
Per FIFA, the rule is in place to prevent players from concealing "discriminatory behavior" on the field. Officials didn't take much time to eject Almirón after reviewing video.

During one of the Euro matches a player was accused of making homophobic/racist comments towards another players but did so by covering his mouth so no one could see it.
In order to prevent any hurt feeling, they inserted a rule that covering your mouth to speak equals a red card

Yup, it’s funny because you said something edgy…
Not sure why this is a big deal… If you’re going to talk shite, say it with your chest. Don’t be a pussy and hide it.
That’s the way I see the rule. People have gotten too comfortable not being held accountable for the stupid shite they say. (I’m all for free speech, btw… I am also all for paying the price for disrespect.)
God forbid there are ever consequences for your actions and words…

Ok, keyboard tough gay. You sound like a pussy who would be crying over some words directed towards you. Hell, you are crying about an innocent post of mine saying it’s “edgy”. I was just explaining what actually happened for the rule to be created.
Are you ok now? Wanna cry some more, pussy? - That was typed without my hand over my mouth too FYI

Irony, everyone.

They cover their mouths so as not to offend the non-athletic weaklings.
I guess you're not a American Football or basketball fan if you think the repercussions for shite talking should be ejection. Games would end due to not enough eligible players halfway through the first quarter.

Big problem in some countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal) with racism.
Players were covering their mouths to create plausible deniability in proving their racism.
A major incident happened in a Champions League match that got major press where a Benfica player purportedly covered his mouth to be racist against Vini Jr. (who is a common target of racism in the Iberian peninsula and has been for years)
FIFA made a rule for the WC to deal with it

I guess you don’t know that the rules of American football have a specific foul for unsportsmanlike conduct that can lead to an ejection.
Why do I even try, sometimes?

This same shite would happen in America if we had a problem with racism. We don't, though, despite the claims of histrionic emotional thinkers.

One problem, Vini lied about being called a racial slur.

Vini wasn't the only one who heard it. Mbappe and Tchou also heard it (and you can see their reactions in real time).
That's based off the Benfica player's admissions, mind you. He has no incentive to try to lessen the story on his behalf, I reckon.

I have watched an embarrassing amount of hours of various sports in my lifetime and can't recall a player ever being ejected for a first time offense of saying something said to another player.
Only seen it once in all my playing days when a dude openly called another player the n word in a soccer game. He didn't even wait to receive his red, knew he was in trouble and immediately walked off the field took his things and left

Because blacks never lie about racism.
