That Sunderland team was a dumpster fire. No short corners did a blog post that analyzed Sunderland’s performances with and without Altidore. It was pretty clear that Sunderland were better (but still shite) when Jozy played as they had better goals for, better possession, and better goals against compared to when he didn’t play. That Sunderland team had no midfielders who could move the ball forward. And as crazy mentioned they completely misused him. Jozy lit up the Eredivisie the year before so it’s not like he was just a shite player. He’s also our third leading goal scorer and will probably best Donovan and Dempsey’s goals totals.

Altidore got hemmed into a specific role with lower-table teams, a role where he didn't really excel to begin with. It's unfortunate, but it worked out alright for him. He'll be known as a terrible striker in England, but he was a terrible fit for the English game to begin with.

How far behind is he? I rather hope Jozy isn't still our best option in late 2022.

Sargent will be the man by then. Hopefully we can convince Siebatcheu to play for us too

It's no offense to Pulisic but to say he's anywhere near a replacement for Hazard is outlandish.

Well, yeah. No one wants their best striker to be 33.
But the fact is, we don't have many options right now.
