Three teams in the finals:

Catholic
U High
Episcopal

Catholic is undefeated. Possibly the biggest and moth athletic team Catholic has ever fielded.

U High lost a few top players, but simply reloaded. Playing great at the end of the year.

Episcopal pulled out a win over Newman in a pk shootout to make the finals. They played up all year long and the lessons learned prepared them for the playoffs.

Since Louie Smothermon took over BR Soccer Club, Baton Rouge soccer talent has exploded.

Uhigh/ Episcopal final? That’s spicy. What date is that?

They’re not in the same division. Episcopal plays Episcopal of Acadiana Wednesday night, UHigh plays the Willow School Thursday.

Because there are 5 divisions.

ETA: corrected below. Also surprised there are no Northshore teams. 4 New Orleans, 3 Baton Rouge, 1 Lafayette.

I know they don’t have a split in soccer like most of the other sports but do you happen to know how they form divisions? Is it still just by enrollment but since a lot of small public schools don’t have teams you sometimes see D1 schools in other sports end up D2 in soccer?

As I understand it, they basically just list all soccer schools in order of enrollment. Then they divide them into divisions with about 45 schools in each division

In all seriousness tho, is BR the new Northshore as far as soccer talent goes?

I just went through the boys bracket archive and unless I overlooked one it appears to be Carencro in 2006.

The Willow School (public charter) won state last year, going for the repeat this year.

There’s no split in soccer but they are “select” in every other sport/definition and would be grouped with the standard private schools in this discussion.

U High should have lost to VCHS. Shady referees.

No longer. Jesuit wins state in sudden death overtime with a golden goal header.
