wondolowski fricking sucks, but i guess per usual, he's in the right place at the right time.

as long as he keeps being in the right place at the right time, i don't think any of us will be complaining this summer.

Why should he-or anyone- be guaranteed a spot? What does it say when you can voluntarily sit out a bunch of games, play
Iike shite against Mexico, play like shite in MLS, come into camp overweight, and expect a spot?

No, he did not earn it. He's not a leader. Bradley, Howard, and Dempsey are your leaders. They are the core.

I mean, I know he's in poor form, but Donovan should still be a really important player for this squad. There aren't a whole lot of guys in the U.S. (if any) who you can rely on make things happen in the attacking third like him.

Do you have an actual counter argument? Can you refute anything I posted?

I mentioned this in the other thread. Donovan being left off the roster won't cause chemistry issues. It may help. I could actually see Donovan being a pretty annoying teammate. He never struck me as the type of dude I wanted to hang out with.

Those 3 mentioned above are the guys I want leading us into Brazil anyway. I'll hold off crucifying our coach until we see how it turns out this summer. I can't wait.

I don't give a shite if he seems like a guy I'd like to have a beer with or not. Bottom line is... Donovan is still a thousand times better than Brad Davis and Wondolowski, and most of the other guys on the US squad.

There's a reason I can't find photos of them in US shirts.

Because you suck at Google?

Find another argument against players who didn't keep LD from being picked.

You're right. Those guys earned their spots based on the quality of their national team play in multiple games, just like dozens of UNC football and basketball players earned their degrees.

GRIT
CONSISTENCY
NOT BEING A frickING SIEVE AGAINST UKRAINE AND BOSNIA
NOT TURNING DOWN MULTIPLE CAPS
PLAYING 25 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING HURT

sounds like a fricking Captain Planet pledge.

Last year, Michael Bradley said plainly, 'If we're going to play more than three games in Brazil, we need Landon.'

This week at Stanford, goalkeeper Tim Howard said, 'For me, it's a very easy equation. If Landon is on the field, he's our top one or two players ... he strikes fear in our opponents.'

Yep. Sounds like Bradley and Howard don't think much of Landon.

It could be as easy as those players were better than LD in camp.

QUIT MOVING THE GOALPOSTS

YOU SAID SOMETHING SAID VERY STUPID. I CORRECTED YOU.

WAS LANDON DONOVAN GOING TO PLAY DEFENSE IN BRAZIL? NO.

I AM NOT ARGUING THEIR MERITS AGAINST DONOVAN'S. I AM ARGUING THAT THEY DON'T PLAY THE SAME POSITION AND YOU ARE BEING BUTTHURT ABOUT THIS ENTIRE THING.

ARGUE AGAINST KLINSMANN. ARGUE AGAINST KLINSMANN'S SELECTION OF BRAD DAVIS.

BRAD. FREAKING. DAVIS.

STOP POSTING STUPID THINGS

The point is related to the article. If Donovan didn't earn his spot, what the frick do you call the work of Chandler, Green, Brooks, or Yedlin? It's a silly point in a shitty article. The comment about Yedlin and Brooks not having US jerseys in the first section of Google image results was just a point about that. Obviously they played. Who will ever forget Yedlin's heroic performance against South Korea? Or the befuddled look on JAB's face when he let goals in against Ukraine and Bosnia?

There's no moving of the goalposts.

There are damn near 600 things wrong with Klinsmann's decision-making. From Day 1, I have said that Donovan is unquestionably one of our top 4 midfielders (5 if we are including Dempsey). Brad Davis, Alejandro Bedoya, Julian Green, and Mix Diskerud should all be lower on the list than him, no questions asked. Bradley, Jones, Zusi, and Dempsey are the only ones at his level or beyond.

And Green is absolutely in the same player pool for the final 23 as Donovan, no matter what Jurgen says about 4 attackers and 8 midfielders.

Until you can logically tell me why Nick fricking Rimando got the call-up over Landon, I'm not listening (reading) to anything you say (post).

I hope you're not being serious, but every team at the World Cup takes three goalkeepers.

Are you Landon? How are you related to Landon? His own mother isn't as upset as you.

He was using the same reasoning that you were. Rimando doesn't play the same position as Donovan.
