Also, Wenger said he's comfortable with Gibbs, Traore, and TV5 at LB

I'm actually quite comfortable with this. Gibbs is young, and unproven, but he's clearly talented. Traore is a great athlete (behind Theo, and I suppose now Ryo, he is one of the fastest on the team) and is a great crosser of the ball. I think it was maybe John Cross who said that Traore was the best 16 year old he'd ever seen. The intangibles are obviously there, but his positioning and awareness are admittedly poor. Hopefully Wenger can help him with that.

If TV5 is playing LB, we are either injured or noticeably fricked, the latter prompting a move for an LB of a high quality.

We've been spoiled with Wenger's ability to find a high-class LB. It's a position where we haven't really struggled to fill, save for some injury scares. I'm much more concerned with a tall CB to take pressure off us on set pieces.

I think Ramsey could be an eventual successor to Cesc as a CAM, but could he step in now and do it? Doubtful. I have similar reluctance to work off faith alone that Gibbs could be an elite LB out of the gate. I'm especially unnerved at the thought of our tough opening fixtures. But, in Arsene we trust, and all that jazz.

I didn't mean to imply that Gibbs would immediately reach Clichy's level, but the thing he needs most of all is games. He had a run of 10 games in 2009 where he did decently, though he did have that mistake against Man U. He needs some consistent games, and as is tradition, it seems he'll get thrown into the fire early in the season to see if he's up for the challenge. I'm excited to see what he can offer going forward, and I'm hoping Arsene structures the team in such a way as to give him some cover in those first few games.

Up for the game against this Malaysian team. Line up: Arsenal Starting XI v Malaysia XI: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Koscielny, Vermaelen (c) Wilshere, Song, Ramsey, Miyaichi, Walcott, Chamakh.

Really excited to see Miyaichi and Jenkinson.

Ramsey scores penalty after Wilshere's driving run draws penalty. Malaysia play decent, Arsenal sweating noticeably in the heat. Malaysia have some really fast players, though they really lack any clue in the final third. Then Ramsey gets space, and finds Walcott with the long diagonal which Theo lobs home. Walcott's goal

Hey, Arsene has been a hipster all along

check comments section - song suggestions for Gervinho, Ryo, and Frimpong:
- Oo Ee Oo Aa Aa Ting Tang Walla Walla Frimpong, Oo Ee Oo Aa Aa Tng Tang Walla Walla Frimpong.

His name is RYO and he comes from Japan
Unlike that other prick who’s name is Ferdinand!
(editor's note: not really clever but I appreciate the Duran Duran nod)

Ryo vs Malaysia

Jenkinson vs Malaysia

I'm surprised at how big Jenkinson is. He had some good crosses.

Ryo is unlike any wide player we have currently.

It'll be interesting to see them perform against Boca Juniors and Benefica. They looked decent against 'laysia.

Don't we play Cologne too? Or FC Koln or whatever that team is.

Also, Denilson stormed to the locker room after being subbed off after twenty minutes. Hilarious. I hope he leaves.

Yeah, you right. They should be a test too. EVen though he kind of sucks now, and if he plays, it will be fun to see Jenkinson and Gibbs get tested by Lucas Podolski. And on the flipside, it will be interesting to watch Tim Ream against RvP, Gervinho, etc.

Denilson is done for Arsenal after that I'd think. We might not be able to sell him, but I have a feeling he'll be getting a healthy dose of the Reserves squad this year.

I'm most interested to see how some of the fringe first team players (Lansbury, Bartley, Coquelin, Frimpong, etc.) do in some of these later preseason games. Their Arsenal future depends on a good showing it seems.

I really hope Lansbury stays and gets game time. Frimpong looks built, reminiscent of Essien, though his game is much more simple. I hope he can give some cover for song.
